Taken Nexium, (esomeprazole) generic Nexium, (esomeprazole) and Protonix which cause drowsiness. Would it be worth taking Prevacid or Prilosec? Will tired feeling go away with time
Doubtful: None of the actions of any of these drugs would have anything to do with drowsiness. That is a very uncommon side effect of any of them. BUT Prilosec is well known to gum up the liver's ability to get other drugs out of you including all sedatives including alcohol.... so .. that one is doubly out. My Doctor has me taking two 20 mg Nexium (esomeprazole) or Prilosec a day. If I took the generic Omeprazole 20mg would that be the same?
Maybe not acid: Nexium (esomeprazole) is a ppi, potent minimizer of acid production in the stomach. Several other ppis on market-all roughly equivalent, can take days some respond better to one than another. Make sure the problem is truly acid related, or not. Other issues including gall bladder, pancreas, celiac sprue, cardiac can cause similar symptoms.
