Why do sleep aides (benadryl, ambien, sonata (zaleplon) ,lunesta, prosom, elavil) not work for me?
Lunesta (eszopiclone): Lunesta (eszopiclone) is by far the safest of the three. Ambien causes too much sleep-eating, sleep-walking, sleep talking, and even sleep driving. I have not seen any of this with lunesta (eszopiclone). Silenor is horrifically expensive for an old generic drug in low doses and is probably the closest in effect to benadryl. I don't know of anyone that has switched into mania on it, but it is a theoretical possibility. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Is name brand Adderall (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine) XR better than the generic brands? I'm reading horror stories online about the generic brands.
Generic vs. brand: While generics are claimed to be the exact equivalent as brand name medications, individuals may respond better to trade name medications. However most patients tolerate the generics without problem. Since the generics are less expensive and usually have a lower co-pay, i would try it once. If it does not work as well as the brand, it will not take long to make that determination. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
