Depends who answers: Prevacid (http://www.drugs.com/prevacid.html) is a brand of generic lansoprazole. Most original versions of drugs are 50:50 mix of mirror images. In other words, they come in right AND left hand versions. Some manufacturers have learned to separate active version (sometimes right, other times left) from inactive one. Dexilant (dexlansoprazole) (http://www.drugs.com/mtm/dexilant.html) is active right hand version. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Wouldn't want to: protonix (pantoprazole) works by permanently inactivating the acid secretion by the stomach and this has to grow back before the pills action stops. More protonix (pantoprazole) cannot do more effect at one time. With acid secretion broken by protonix (pantoprazole) unlikely zantac could do anything. ...Read more
Taking Carafate, Dexilant, (dexlansoprazole) and phenegran. Took 20mg omeprazole and numbing sensation occurred in Mouth then head/face, then headache developed. ?
Slow down : There may have been a drug interaction as Dexilant (dexlansoprazole) and Omeprazole are both similar types of medications. I would hold off on taking so many meds for your symptoms and follow up with a GI specialist who can look into your stomach and find the source of untrue problem. I would avoid spicy foods, chocolate, acidic drinks (orange juice), tomato sauce or ketchup, as well as soda until then. ...Read more

Is pepcid (famotidine) safe for everyday use? Thinking of switching from prilosec to pepcid (famotidine)
Pepcid (famotidine) long term: short answer - yes but my concern is given you age - why are you requiring either a proton pump inhibitor (prilosec) or an H2 blocker (pepcid) on a regular basis?? Assuming you have a medical condition requiring acid suppression - long term use may be appropriate. However, if you are taking it without a clear diagnosis - you need to be seen and evaluated to determine what is wrong. ...Read more
Which controls reflux best: 150mg ranitidine twice a day, 20mg protonix (pantoprazole) twice a day,40mg protonux once a day or combo of both drugs?
Reflux : A lot of people take protonix (pantoprazole) just once daily at either 20 or 40mg and do well but others, anecdotally, seem to prefer taking the 20 mg dose twice daily. Ranitidine can work well for a lot of people as well (twice daily). however, if your reflux is very severe I recommend that you get an evaluation by a gastroenterologist to make sure it's you're only dealing with simple gastroesophageal reflux ...Read more
