Cough: In addition to infectious cause, the 3 most common causes of a chronic cough include asthma, rhinitis, and gastroesophageal reflux. An allergist/immunologist or a primary care physician can help evaluate and diagnose the reason for your chronic cough. You should see a physician if the cough has persisted despite steroids ...Read more

2 TSF is too much: We usually do not use cough medicine in children under 2.As general rule cough meds do not do any good in children under 2 years of age and can make than sick Do not give any more cough medicine and if the baby keeps puking acts sicker, call your Pediatrician or take baby to ER.In all probability the baby will be ok as the med was vomited. Perhaps: If giving your son plain Robitussin with plain motrin, then this is probably acceptable. However, since more companies are developing drug combinations please read the ingredients list carefully. Motrin is identified as "ibuprofen"--which is the same as advil and very similar to aleve (naproxen). The best answer is to ask your local pharmacist if any of your son's drugs used together pose a problem. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

My just turned 3 year old son was prescribed Bromfed dm 2.5ml every 4 hrs. I accidentally gave him 5ml. He weighs 34lb. I gave it 1.5hrs ago and he se?
It happens: At that weight the amount shouldn't hurt him.It may well show some side effects.Since it is a combination med it migght make him hyper or groggy depending on his sensitivity to the components. I find little value in these products and don't use them under the age of 6. Allergic reaction : Hi. I am not sure by your message what the order of things was- but it sounds like you might have had a reaction to allergy testing. It is very rare to have an allergic reaction that requires prednisone after testing alone. Allergy shots help with allergies of the nose, eyes and with allergic asthma. I would follow up with your allergist regarding the reaction that you had. ...Read more
I gave my 2yr old bromfed dm 6hrs after giving her benadryl. Did I do something wrong? Will.she be ok?
Define wrong ?: Neither drug is recommended for kids under 6. They used to be given often but more than a decade ago we realized more kids ended up in ER's with an overdose than got any benefit from them. Their main "benefit" was it gave you something to do.But they thicken the kids secretions and make them harder to cough out.A little honey in lemon juice can actually help more. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

I am certain your doctor suspects inflammation in your airways and so the inhaled and systemic steroids are given. It is the same way we treat all airway inflammations. ...Read more

Hi. My2.5 yr old was having flu. Her doc prescribed 2.5 ml of zerta zine but i accidentally gave her 5 ml. She is asleep now. What should i do?
Let her sleep: Not to worry this time. There should be no ill effects. However, use this as a learning experience to be VERY CAREFUL in the future with medications. Give medicines precisely as prescribed to avoid complications in the future. Measure accurately and make sure other caregivers are not administering meds at the same time to avoid double-dosing. ...Read more
