Maybe: Hi. If you get most of your vit. D from your diet (instead of from sun exposure), malabsorption can cause vit. D deficiency. So causes of malabsorption are associated with diarrhea, so there can be a connection. In general, I'd say chronic diarrhea needs a good work up by a gastroenterologist. Good luck! ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Is Vitamin d deficiency related to Irritable Bowel Syndrome? If one has adequate sun exposure, wat else could b the reasons for vitamin D deficiency?
Liver and kidney: The active vitamin D is made from a precursor compound in the skin which, upon exposure to sun light, is converted into an intermediate metabolite that in turn needs to be further metabolized in the liver and finally in the kidney. Problem anywhere along this path can cause deficiency ...Read more
What might cause malabsorption of b complex vit. In a diabetic? Used to take vitamins with good results.
Good question: The vitamin B complex, particularly vitamin B1, processes the metabolism of sugar. Absence of vitamin B1 causes the ancient scourge of beri-beri, something that you can easily look up on line. Because of the massive intake of sugar by Americans, vitamin B1 deficiency is extremely common and the symptoms are frequently being called psychosomatic erroneously ...Read more

What are some underlying causes of vitamin deficiency? I'm d, b-12 deficient and have a high fetrin level.
Different causes: Vitamin d deficiency is mainly due to lack of sunlight (although could also increase skin cancer risk). Vitamin B12 deficiency is more nutritional although it's also associated w/gastric disorders leading to loss of intrinsic factor. High ferritin suggests either infection or lots of iron. Best to check w/your family or whoever ordered these tests. Replacement of B12 & d is inexpensive & easy. ...Read more

Can b 12 injections cause stomach or intestinal issues in rare cases like vitamin d injections? If so what kind of issues can it cause?
Not to my knowledge: This is extremely unlikely based on basic medical science. People are going to see whatever they want as cause-and-effect, but i'd urge you strongly to seek some other reason for whatever symptoms referable to the stomach and small bowel & not to be satisfied until it's found. Have you been checked for giardia / celiac sprue / whipple's / chronic pancreatitis -- all can get overlooked. ...Read more

Nutrient dense foods: Eat foods that are nutrient dense (like meat, fish, poultry, eggs, cheese, low starch vegatables and water) avoid foods that are not nutrient dense (like starches and sugars, including fruit) nutrient dense foods will increase your basal metabolic rate.
