Bariatric surgery: There is a specialty of medine for this--bariatric surgery. Gastroenterologists generally don't do surgery-mostly endoscopic procedures and biopsies etc. Bariatric surgeons are trained to do just these bypass procedures. I advise consult your doc for an evaluation and possible referal to a bariatric surgeon--and lung/heart/psychiatry doc as part of the "requirement" for these surgeries. Good luck. ...Read more

Other tests needed: Which gastroenterology test did you have? A negative upper endoscopy does not rule out a GI source of chest pain. There are other tests such as esophageal manometry that could be performed to seek an answer. Non cardiac chest pain can be many things, including costochondritis as others have mentioned.
