Lots of causes: Infection, malabsorption, lactose intolerance, there is even an entity called toddler's diarrhea. What can I do to cure gastroenteritis (my stomach flu)?

Fluid replacement: There is no "cure"for a viral gastroenteritis. The important thing is to keep up with fluid losses--usually staring with small volumes of fluid and increasing as tolerated. Help on "stomach flu" or viral gastroenteritis please! On the road without meds?

Flu on the road: Stomach flu. If you're on the road, I will assume you have access to a drug store at least for over-the-counter medications. For nausea, otc antihismanines like dramamine or Meclizine should help. For the diarrhea, otc immodium works very well. Otherwise, drink plenty of fluids, rest, and eat as much of a healthy diet as you can (you will recover faster). Tylenol (acetaminophen) for fever. ...Read more

If the flu virus gets in the stomach, can it cause gastroenteritis instead of a respiratory illness?

If the flu virus gets in the stomach, can it cause gastroenteritis instead of a respiratory illness?

No: Gastroenteritis is caused by various viruses including rotaviruses, noroviruses ; adenoviruses but is not caused by influenza virus. Chills, fatigue, fever, nausea, headache. Gastro is going around could it be this despite no vomit or diarrhea? Tolerating food in small doses.

Gastroenteritis: It is possible that this is what you have, although it may just as easily be something different than what is "going around".
