Gastritis On Ppi Still Burning Not Healing
What is usually done when gastritis or a stomach ulcer doesn't heal within 5months on ppi (lanoprazole and omeprazole)?
PUD, Gastritis: First it is important to know that gastric ulcer or gastritis is due to h.Pylori or not? With h. Pylori the treatment is triple and not mono, like you mentioned with one ppi. You have to get egd now to see the status of ulcer/ gastritis . Sucralfate is added with regimen. If still no healing and bleeding episodes , the surgery is next option. ...Read more
How come my mild gastritis won't heal if I don't have bacteria no NSAID, on bland diet, taking Carafate (sucralfate) PPIs??? 3 months in pain.
No longer mild: The pain pattern is critical in establishing the diagnosis, before or after meals, periods of high stress, etc. How was your diagnosis made? In case you did not have an upper endoscopy, you might need one. Would recommend that you keep a log with the type of food/ drinks that you ingest and the timing/character of your pain and bring it to your follow-up visit. ...Read more
Frequent feeling of acid in throat it burns all day long nothing help not Nexium (esomeprazole) or pepto not sure if its GERD or acid reflux have it all day long?
Maybe not GERD...: To expand on dr. Dugan's prior answer, evaluation is key to determining if your symptoms are reflux-related or not. Also, if reflux, is it acid or non-acid material that is involved? Sometimes, "sourbrash" (as you describe) may be due to pulmonary, ent, or dental issues. If unresponsive to therapeutic dosing of nexium, (esomeprazole) then start your evaluation with the gastroenterology specialist to determine rx. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Why does gastritis takes long to heal? Have it since March. No h pylori, nsaids and no alcohol. Bland diet.
Gastritis: Gastritis is usually diagnosed based on symptoms, and if the symptoms resolve with acid blockers. If not resolving, you may be advised to have an upper endoscopy to take a look at the gastric mucosa and upper GI tract, and verify that this is, in fact, the correct diagnsis. You should definitely discuss with your provider. ...Read more

Been taking Prilosec for 3weeks for ulcer. 20mg. Now having stomach pain. Not severe but doesn't feel like the same ulcer pain. Is it the prilosec?
ulcer pain: Probably not the Prilosec but is still ulcer pain. See your doctor to report a change in symptoms and for a recheck. You may need a specialist to do an endoscopic exam to take a look at your esophagus and stomach. Were you tested for h.Pylori the leading infective cause of ulcers? ...Read more

Mild gastritis for 3 month. Bland diet but intense pain hunger and tender around navel area. How long to heal? Taking carafate, (sucralfate) pantoprazole.
Gastritis?: The lack of response to standard treatment is of concern. There are many questions that need to be answered: have you undergone endoscopy (scope into stomach) and duodenum (small intestine); are you pregnant? Further testing may be indicated, depending on the results of the endoscopy. A more rare, but possible condition, could be a diverticular hernia (an intestinal congenital diverticulum). ...Read more

Recently ended 2 week course of antibiotic for h. Pylori and gastric ulcer. Why does coffee still aggravate my stomach?
H pylori => ulcer: 2 week course of antibiotics only gets rid of h pylori if taken as directed. But that may not be enough time for stomach lining to heal, which is why coffee & other foods may still aggravate your stomach. Ask your doc if a short course of proton pump inhibitor like Omeprazole or Pantoprazole would be ok to tie you over until you're completely healed (which is never quickly enough). ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Hi had an endoscopy at beg. of month. No ulcer or h pylori but mild inflamed esophagus. On Nexium (esomeprazole) now but still burping and a lot of gas. what do I do?
Dexilant (dexlansoprazole) reflux, ulcer and now mild fatty liver. Still having discomfort and pain had endoscopy what to do now?
If its not gastritis or ulcer what can it be? Constant knawing below the breasted bone and sometimes stomach pains.Zantec and Prilosec hasn't helped
Wide Range Possible: Pains around the breast bone can be from your heart or gallbladder as well as from the stomach. I'd humbly suggest you see your pcp for a quick work up (or go to the er if pain is more severe). Heart atacks can sometimes seem like heartburn or indigestion. This would be the worst case scenario. Continued pain in this area needs to be evaluated rather urgently though, because of that fact. ...Read more

Worse GERD: if you're having excessive burning in your throat, you should add in antacids, such as Tums, (calcium carbonate) when necessary, until you can see your gastroenterologist. You should be sure you're following your time reflux precautions closely. You can look up the checklist on avoiding heartburn here on HealthTap. I'd make an appointment soon. ...Read more
How long does chronic gastritis heal? Have it for 5 months No h pylori, nsaids and no alcohol bland diet taking PPI. endoscopy show nodular gastritis
You sure no Hp?: on biopsy or serologies? nodular gastritis, especially in young women, is most commonly associated with h pylori. are your symptoms any better on the PPI? the chronic gastritis may never fully regress but need to deal with your symptoms. some GIs would also advocate for repeat endoscopy down the line for screening purposes (data not convincing for it, but reasonable to do) ...Read more
Why did my GERD and gastritis start around the same time frame? Why has GERD remained after gastritis healed?
CAUSE AND EFFECT: your GERD will not really go away gastritis could come and go both are affected by stress and food and medication that could irritate the lining of the stomach GERD could be related to hiatal hernia and that is a mechanical thing and there is no medicine to make that go away no the burning and the infalmation from the reflux will get better but the cause the hernia still there ...Read more
