With no gallbladder is bile induced gastritis a chronic condition? Surgery 7 months ago with nausea, mild burning. Is it treatable and will it can back

Other possibilities?: Anatomically speaking bile gastritis after cholecystectomy would be far-fetched suggesting incompetence of the gastro-duodenal sphincter. Look for another cause or confirm this one with gastroscopy. ...Read more

I am having burning sensation in Upper back and Some times in the legs, I recently had an endoscopy that suggest mild gastritis but symptoms reoccured?

Could be a disc: Burning in the back associated with leg symptoms is suggestive of nerve compression in the spine. Based upon your age this is most likely due to a disc bulge. Most disc bulges occur in the lower lumbar spine, but they can also occur higher up. See an orthopedic spine surgeon or neurosurgeon for an exam, and possibly an MRI. ...Read more

I Always Feel Bloated And My Stomach Feels Like Its Burning. Is It Gastritis? How Is Will It Be Cured?

I Always Feel Bloated And My Stomach Feels Like Its Burning. Is It Gastritis? How Is Will It Be Cured?

First find Diagnosis: Yes it can be gastritis. But that diagnosis can only be confirmed with upper endoscopy (Gastroscopy). If that is the cause then it is easy to treat and it can be cured. Most often we use antacids of one type or another and this eliminates acid in the stomach which then heals in one or two weeks. Go see your doctor to find the cause, only then it is treated properly. ...Read more

Last month I was diagnosed with gastritis and then yesterday I was diagnosed with gallstones is my burning feeling from gallstones or gastritis?

Last month I was diagnosed with gastritis and then yesterday I was diagnosed with gallstones is my burning feeling from gallstones or gastritis?

Probably Gallbladder: Gastritis shouldn't last a month in normal circumstances. Gall stones generally cause dull or sharp pain and not burning pain, especially after a fat diet. BTW, many people have gall stones, which don't cause any symptoms. You should have a follow up with your GP and let them review the results for a proper diagnosis. Feel better ...Read more

I have minor gastritis. I feel some burning in the centre of abdominal when I use some oily or chilli things.

Diet: Minimize alcohol, antiinflammatiry meds, spicy foods, greasy foods, red meats. Watch for black stools which could indicate bleeding in the stomach from gastritis or an ulcer. Try Pepcid (famotidine) or Prilosec over the counter for 2 weeks and if no better see your doctor. ...Read more

Collegiate runner. Diagnosed with gastritis and had gallbladder removed. Intense burning pain with exertion. Is this part of the gastritis? Advice

Possibly: I'm not clear how the gastritis (stomach inflammation) led to your gallbladder removed. Gastritis usually has a relationship with eating or lack thereof. If this is a new pain since your gallbladder, I'd recommend you see a GI doctor to evaluate this further as you may have bile acid gastritis. ...Read more

LUQ pain, burning sensation, pretty constant, worse with sweets sometimes, not always. Caffeine doesn't seem to affect it. Could it be gastritis?

Yes but...: Gastritis could produce those symptoms but if you're on pantoprazole and it still hurts then gastritis is less likely. Some people respond better to one acid reducer than another. Only way to know if it's gastritis is to look inside with a scope. Talk to your doctor. ...Read more

I just stopped Prilosec 20MG after 2 months for Gastritis. I am on Zantac (ranitidine) 300mg now but am experiencing rebound acid burning and reflux. Suggestions?

See your doctor to: Discuss more about your diet and hydration issues too. It's important to see what's causing the rebound gastritis. Sometimes acidic foods, Tums, (calcium carbonate) calcium based foods can cause this to happen, as well as fried foods, processed foods and underlying stress and worry. There's definitely a mind- body connection with gut issues, as the microbiome controls our neurotransmitter production, absorption. ...Read more

Can I eat ice cream with mild gastritis? Would the coldness soother the burning in my stomach? I'm craving ice cream

Can I eat ice cream with mild gastritis? Would the coldness soother the burning in my stomach? I'm craving ice cream

Gastritis: Gastritis refers to inflammation of stomach lining. Calcium, H2 blockers & proton pump inhibitors, all available over-the-counter w/o prescription are often used to treat this condition along w/others, eg heartburn, indigestion, acid reflux, etc. I don't see any harm in eating ice cream (dairy products contain calcium, after all) but don't overdo it! Too many calories & not enough nutrition. ...Read more

Taking pantoprozole 40 mg in the morning and ranitidine 300 mg at bed time but still have chronic burning like gastritis and indigestion all the time?

Burning: Stomach ulcers caused by the H pylori bacteria may get a little better with antacids, but won't go away unless the bacteria is cleared. You might consider getting tested. The other possibility is functional dyspepsia which may respond to other meds. Talk with your GI about the cause of your symptoms. ...Read more

Why could I take 20 Betaine HCL pills and feel no burning? I recently got diagnosed with gastritis with erosion, is it too much stomach acid?

Why could I take 20 Betaine HCL pills and feel no burning? I recently got diagnosed with gastritis with erosion, is it too much stomach acid?

Why did you take?: Betaine hydrochloride has an interesting history. Betaine hydrochloride used to be included in over-the-counter (OTC) products as a “stomach acidifier and digestive aid.” But a federal law that went into effect in 1993 banned betaine hydrochloride from use in OTC products because there wasn’t enough evidence to classify it “generally recognized as safe and effective.” Why were you taking 20? ...Read more

I've just had a gastroscopy for coeliac. Showed gastritis. Bloated and severe stitch pain in side. Sometimes pain / burning under ribs. Please help!

Gastritis: Celiac disease is not diagnosed by gastroscopy since it involves the small intestines and not the upper GI tract. You problem appears to be from inflammation in the stomach which may be associated with H pylori infection, NSAIDs intake etc. It is best for you to consult your doctor or see a GI specialist to get a more focused diagnosis and treatment. ...Read more

Total confusion: Acne is not related to B12. Why B12? How did you arrive at the diagnosis of gastritis? NO GASTRITIS IS CAUSED BY SPICY FOODS OR ACIDIC FOODS. I've been diagnosed with gastritis but my PPI doesn't seem to be helping this time. I have awful burning pain in my upper abdomen. What else can I try?

I've been diagnosed with gastritis but my PPI doesn't seem to be helping this time. I have awful burning pain in my upper abdomen. What else can I try?

Gastritis: The usual treatment for gastritis is antacids and medications that decrease the production of acid in your stomach. I assume you are on these medications. You can buy them yourself in the pharmacy. Omeprazole is an example of medication you can buy over the counter. If despite these medications you continue to have symptoms, you need to see a gastroenterologist and have endoscopy. ...Read more

Pain in the middle of the left and right side of stomach. I have gastritis and ulcer, take protonix (pantoprazole) everyday and have burning and pain when pushing.

Gastritis & ulcer: If you're still suffering from burning pain in stomach despite taking Protonix (pantoprazole) every day, ask your prescribing doc for another option like omeprazole or lansoprazole. Think of Chevy vs Dodge vs Ford (or Honda vs Nissan vs Toyota). All make reasonable cars but one might have better product for your specific needs. Same concept applies to PPIs. If no better, may need to check fo H pylori etc. ...Read more

Bile acid gastritis: I believe you had asked a similar question previously. I would recommend having an upper endoscopy to evaluate the gastritis. A trial of omeprazole for two weeks can help determine if your pain is due to stomach acid. If not then bile acid may be the issue. Carafate (sucralfate) works pretty well for this. ...Read more

If I have gastritis or an ulcer, will the PPIs always help? I've been taking pantoprazole for a month, and I'm still experiencing stomach burning.

Return to your doc.: If you are still having symptoms after one month of a PPI, you should return to your doctor to see if further testing needs to be done, or if you need a different medication or a change in the dosage of the current one. In the meantime, it will not hurt to add over-the-counter antacids, such as Tums, (calcium carbonate) to your regimen. Good luck. ...Read more

Nausea: Not sure why no biopsy was none. Your doctor may not have felt the findings were significant. You could have a H Pylori breath test without an endoscopy. Your gallbladder could be further evaluated with an ultrasound and HIDA scan with CCK. A gastric emptying study might also be useful. ...Read more
