Possible cause of random jolts of pain below ribs on far left side of back? Lasts a few seconds; not severe just startling. I get pain from gastritis and IBS often but this a new feeling/location.

Try an elimination diet for a month, add back foods one at a time, one per week, keep a food and symptom diary. Many people are intolerant of gluten and dairy or something else and can feel much better when they identify what foods and stressors trigger attacks. Dgl (deglycyrrhizinated licorice) can help gasrtitis. ...Read more

What type of diet should I follow for gastritis, dyspepsia, Ibs and acid reflux? I've been trying to drink more water and eat vegetables and fruits.
Diet for GI problems: The recommended diet would be different for each of those G.I. problems. The best diet for you would depend on which of these are actually causing you the most symptoms. I would see a gastroenterologist to help sort out your predominant problem and base your diet on that. Until then, a high fiber diet low in citrus fruits and tomatoes would be a good place to start. Good luck. ...Read more

See answer: Without knowing your symptoms, it is difficult to assess what the best therapy would be. Have you had the H. pylori treated? If so, did you have confirmation of eradication? DX w/IBS, GERD, gastritis. The only time my stomach feels normal is if it's empty. Food/drinks & exercise cause reflux or ULQ pain. Is this IBS typical?
Possible.: It's hard to say what's typical for IBS since it becomes a diagnosis when we've excluded all other things. This may be what is typical for IBS for you, but not for another individual. It certainly falls within the spectrum of symptoms for IBS. If the symptoms are getting worse however, it's time to go back to your gastroenterologist. ...Read more
Super gassy sometimes. I have coffee everyday in the morning with soy/almond milk and artificial sweeteners. Is this IBS or just a bad case of gastritis?
Gas: A very small percentage of people are sensitive to soy, so this is one possible source. Even more possible are the artificial sweetners. Many of these are very difficult for the gut to digest appropriately, and can then cause your problem - gas. I'd start by eliminating them for a week and seeing if symptoms improve, then if so, very gradually add tiny amounts back and see what you can tolerate. ...Read more
Why most of doctors prefer to use ppis to treat gastritis and ulcers instead of misopostrol that has no side effects such c-diff, impotence, ibs...?
PPI's are safer: Misoprostol is less effective in healing peptic ulcers than ppi's. The drug was initially released only to prevent ulcerations from Aspirin and other anti-inflammatory agents. GERD, ? H. Pylori:
Reflux is often associated with H. Pylori but not always. You might have gastritis. You probably have at least some dysbiosis and possibly SIBO. You might have a deficiency of hydrochloric acid.

Hi I have reflux, gastritis, lots of gas and intestinal rumbling followed with dark green loose stool that's foul smelling. Is this ibs? if not help!?
Not irritable bowel: Reflux isn't IBS, gastitis is inflammation of the stomach. Foul-smelling stools sometimes mean gastroenteritis or malabsorption. Sounds like it is time for a GI specialist or at least a visit to your usual physician for stool studies if the problem continues and even a gluten sensitivity panel with a later GI referral. irritable bowel synd is a diagnosis of exclusion, although real and painful. ...Read more
