12 years post op rny, iron 20 & vitamin d at 10. Seeing a new dr that hasn't worked with deficient gastric bypass, is 325ferrous 3x and 2000d 1x okay?
Nutrition!: A gastric bypass is a very complex nutrition situation. If your physician has not dealt with it much i would suggest asking for a referral to a nutritionist or a bariatric center. That being said, the dosage of iron is fda approved treatment for iron deficiency, and the vitamin d is a reasonable amount. Possible stricture: If the nausea and vomiting have been occuring since surgery it may be your gastric pouch was made to small. If the symptoms are more recent, there is the possibility of an anastomotic stricture or marginal ulceration. Gastroparesis : Gastroparesis is not well understood. Diagnosis is clinical & nuclear gastric emptying scan. Treatment is medication & dietary, alternative medicine therapies, or surgery - gastric stimulator, "valve" opening, or near complete removal of the stomach, similar to a gastric bypass, but with the stomach excised. Yes, can recur.: Yes, stricture is a term that describes narrowing within the g-i tract. Could be caused by excessive scar formation at the site of a surgically created connection. Get blood tests done: Before i diagnosed you with fibromyalgia, i would check a complete set of blood tests. People with gastric bypass tend to get vitamin deficiencies, especially low b12.
