Gastric Attack Symptoms
Dose donperenone improve the gastroparesis or just improve symptoms if I stop taking it would gastric motility be better or the same as before?
Gastroparesis: Domperidone improves symptoms of gastroparesis but does not cure the underlying problem. Once discontinued I would expect gastric motility to return to pretreatment baseline. Importantly, domperidone is not available in the usa due to the risk of side effects such as cardiac conduction abnormalities and possibility of sudden cardiac death. ...Read more
Hard 2 answer..: ...Because gastric cancer often causes no symptoms until it spreads and then the symptoms will depend on where it went to and whether it's causing blockage. My answer would be: Bentyl (dicyclomine) may potentially hide some symptoms but not for long. It seems you had an endoscopy already, though, so I'm not sure why you are so concerned about this. Gastric cancer in a young person like you would be unlikely. ...Read more

Try Bagel Test: After a bypass, you can test your pouch size and emptying by a bagel test. Eat mini bagels until full (in morning without any fluids). Record number of bagels (could be up to two for normal). Then wait 30 minutes. Don't drink anything. Try eating mini bagels again. Ideally, most of the pouch should still be full and you should only be able to eat one. ...Read more

Hello Dr, I have contracted GB with multiple stones, each 7mm, don't have any other symptoms except the gastric issue with severe back pain, pls advice.
If life breeds anxiety and panic, the body may respond with physical symptoms as well. I suspect the anxiety and panic are still active, and the stomach still has problems. Wouldn't it make sense to get help in sorting these things out and living better? Time to consider psychotherapy, meds and help.

I had a cancer screen, I am 30. Results were all ok/low apart from raised CA 72-4 which was 8.4. I have no gastric symptoms but have ovary cyst. HELP!
Why did you do that?: CA72-4 is a 25-year-old proposed tumor marker that never came into common use because it isn't very sensitive and isn't very specific -- most folks with an elevation (and your elevation is trivial if the top of the reference range is 7, as it often is) are perfectly healthy. If the cyst isn't suspicious for malignancy on imaging, forget about it. You may be sold an endoscopy, probably will be OK. ...Read more

Some symptoms of gastritis and gastric ulcer can be the same - abdominal pain and discomfort. Some times an ulcer can cause more severe pain and if it is causing bleeding people will have black bowel movements or "melena " as a result.

What symptoms do you look for to screen for acid reflux versus delayed gastric emptying in an infant? How does one know when to refer to specialist?
Timing of vomiting: Many children spit up, some a lot. The time after feeding is key for deciding if the stomach has delayed emptying. Infants should have an empty stomach by 2 hours or so after eating, so if a child throws up 4 hrs or more after eating, they likely have delayed emptying. Poor weight gain, poor appetite and cough are all reasons for a referral. Talk to your doctor if you are concerned. ...Read more

Symptoms? Concern?: In general, a low resting heart rate is beneficial (people live longer with low resting heart rates! - you only get so many heart beats in your life!).
