Flatulence: Gas (flatulence or bleching) is a nonspecific symptom and could be due to many things- not necessarily an ulcer. Do stomach ulcers cause a lot of gas?

Pain yes, gas no: The gas you produce is a combination of swallowed air and gas arising from the action of gut germs on undigested food. Beans as an example have fucose, a sugar humans don't metabolize, but germs do. Eat a lot, and germ action makes you gassy. Ulcers are just holes in the upper layers of the tissue lining the inside of the gut. ...Read more

My husband has ulcers and reflux problems. On losec (omeprazole). Eats grapefruit-has gas every day. Is this the problem?

Possibly.: Grapefruit has a great deal of acid, and if eaten every day can build up acid in the stomach and result in reflux, but gas every day does not do it, and ulcers are usually from diet and stress. Reflux is usually from 3 main foods; orange juice, chocolate, and tomato products like sauce, etc. Prilosec should stop this, but it is strong and has side effects. See your dr. To be sure of correct use. ...Read more

My doctor thought I may have a stomach ulcer so he lowered some of my crohn's meds but my stomach has sharp pain, gas it is worse. How long do I wait?

Crohn's meds: The only Crohn's med that I can think of that would cause stomach ulcers is prednisone. This is not a long term medicine and should be used as little as possible. When taking prednisone you should also take a strong antacid to protect your stomach, like omeprazole or lansoprazole. Contact your doctor to let him know what you're feeling. ...Read more

What is the best medication to treat gastric ulcer. My stomach produces much Gas and upper part of it got swollen up. Being using omeprazole?

Maybe not just ulcer: Feeling full of "gas" may reflect malabsorption of food (like gluten, lactose), intake of poorly digested food, or choosing foods known to promote gas (beans, fizzy drinks). Sometimes its more complicated--a stomach emptying too slowly, bacterial overgrowth syndrome, delayed intestinal function, partial obstruction from any cause, infection, rectum problems, &/or pathology outside the gut. ...Read more

I have stomach pain when I am hungry. In addition I have constipation too. Does constipation create gas that cause pain? Or is it a symptom of ulcer

I have stomach pain when I am hungry. In addition I have constipation too. Does constipation create gas that cause pain? Or is it a symptom of ulcer

Unclear cause: Ulcers typically cause upper abdominal pain and could be associated with nausea and/or GI bleeding. Pain from constipation is typically in the lower abdomen. I'd suggest you address the constipation first with a high fiber diet, stool softeners (e.g. Colace) and fiber supplement (e.g. Metamucil). You may also need a laxative in which case I suggest mom or miralax (polyethylene glycol). Avoid taking asa/nsaids. ...Read more

Do higher amount of gas for a month & stomach pain around belly button for a week (gets relieved after motion) indicate stomach ulcer or liver tumor?

Neither: Try to alter your diet to see if that brings relief. If that does not help, you should consult a doctor for the stomach pain as that may be due H pylori infection.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form.

Bacterial overgrowth: You give the symptoms of bacterial overgrowth syndrome which is a form of irritable bowel syndrome. The cause of this is a prior intestinal infection of any kind.
