What is the risk of an IUD implanting into your uterus? Can a tubal reverse itself?

Yes and yes: An IUD can embed itself into the uterine wall or even be expelled. The risk is minimal for both. Tubal ligations can re-canalize by forming an alternate path around the obstruction. That is why we quote a failure rate for tubal ligations depending upon the method used. ...Read more

Check for Pregnancy: Tubal ligation is not 100%. The failure rate depends on the surgical technique and is estimated at probability of 2.5 per 1,000. Patients who are late for their cycle should have a pregnancy test. Fibroids: Are relatively common, and if you are not having any symptoms related to them, probably nothing needs to be done. It sounds like you had a transabdominal ultrasound and your ovaries could not be seen due to bowel gas. This happens occasionally. If your doctor wants to check your ovaries, you need to have a transvaginal ultrasound. If the ovaries are still difficult to see, MRI might be useful. ...Read more

Sore nipples, gas, bloating, hard uterus, achy cervix, and beyond hungry. 35 days late, had spotting at 2 weeks late. Negative ept. Can I still be preg?

Sounds like no: Home pregnancy tests are very accurate. They are the same tests used in a doctors office. They can detect a pregnancy 7-10 days after conception. The best time to take one is when you miss your period. If you doubt the result you can repeat it in 1-2 days. If you were pregnant the hormone level would rise enough for detection. Schedule a visit to have your symptoms evaluated ...Read more

Am i pregnant or miscarrying? Hi I am nine days late on my menstrual today I started spotting some but no big amounts of blood like usual, I have very sore breast and very bad backaches, I feel as if I have a lot of pressure on my uterus and gas. What cou

Spotting : Spotting can be a sign of pregnancy, so you might want to take a home pregnancy test. As doctors, the first thing we do when we hear that a fertile woman is having a missed period or abnormal spotting, we check a pregnancy test. You can either take a home pregnancy test as long as it has been 5 – 6 weeks since your last normal period, or you can go see your doctor and they can test you. A home pregnancy test is 97% accurate if taken a week or more after the missed period and a doctor's test can tell around when you should be getting your next period.

There are other reasons besides pregnancy that can cause a woman to miss a period such as: stress, diet, excessive exercise or a hormone imbalance such as with a thyroid disorder or polycystic ovarian syndrome. If you continue to have an irregular cycle, you should give your doctor or your ob/gyne a call. Good luck! ...Read more

Regulation of bleed: With abnormal uterine bleeding like you have had, I'm glad you had an ulltrasound but I would still recommend going back for the pap smear as well to rule out cervical problems causing the bleeding. The Yasmin (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol) will hopefully regulate your hormones and periods better if the hormones are the cause of your twice monthly periods in the next 3 months or so. Need to rule out cervix as the cause though. ...Read more
