Started reading why we get fat by gary taubes. Seems unhealthy to eat so much protein. And knowledge about the books content or recommendations of another book about a healthy diet?
No one best diet: There is no one best diet for everyone but i share your concern about the excessive protein that low-carb advocates advise. I've written an essay on the pros & cons of various diets including low-carb vs. Low-fat diets at http://drrandybaker.Com/2013/01/20/diet-and-health/ my favorite diet book is eat to live by joel fuhrman md. Brain function: The research is equivocal about actual brain cell loss with use of marijuana. (mri scans don't show this.) however, brain function definitely changes for the worse while under the influence -- and possibly longer, especially with chronic use. http://www.drugabuse.gov/publications/research-reports/marijuana-abuse/how-does-marijuana-use-affect-your-brain-body. ...Read more

Any dr read this destroying the myth about testosterone replacement and prostate cancer
by abraham morgentaler, md, facs introduction by william fa?
In your opinion, which specialty has the smartest docs? The nicest? The least nice? My vote: smartest = pathology; nicest = pediatrics; least nice = it's a tie: endocrinology and vascular surgery.
Value judgments: Being human, physicians have varying personalities ("niceness") and all have intelligence or they wouldn't be in medicine. People have value judgments, though. For instance, many physicians told me i was "too smart" to go into psychiatry. Should we make similar judgments about 43 year old men from athens ga -- saying they're not as nice or as smart as women from atlanta? I think not. :-). ...Read moreSee 4 more doctor answers
MyNetDiary is great: I personally use and recommend to my patients - mynetdiary as it has one of the most extensive databases available. If the food item is not included in the database you can enter the information, take a picture of the front and back of the item and it will be added to the database. For those patients with pcos or diabetes they have an excellent version focused on tracking carboydrates. ...Read more

Actually some very: Smart folks smoke mj, but they act very dumb while under the influence. They think they are profound and brilliant, but they really are just stoned. Many not so smart people smoke, and they do not get any brighter afterward. It can be psychoaddictive and can tempt you to smoke and do nothing else. That is indeed not productive, if not dumb. ...Read more

I believe in the traditional approaches to healthy eating from the pioneers adelle davis and frances moore lappe. Who are leaders now?
Alice Waters/Farmers: Ms. Lappe's daughter is carrying on the small planet movement. Doctors ornish and weil are well-known proponents of healthy eating. There are many outside north america. With the rising cost of food and possible problems with our food supply, there is a need for others. My approach is a la michael pollan, using local fresh foods as much as possible. I cook low-fat according to what is in season. ...Read more
Re: flaxseed. Is this true?
what is best science re: flaxseed and prostate cancer?
Maybe: This article says flaxseed is bad for prostate cancer, and in fact it might be. If you search the medical literature (www.Pubmed.Com), you will find scientific studies showing that flaxseed oil inhibits prostate cancer, and studies showing flaxseed oil makes prostate cancer more aggressive. Like many health fads, we don't know. The best advice is to eat normal amounts of real healthy foods. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
