How rare is a ganglion cyst in the ulnar side of the wrist? Can it be removed without a huge scar? It's uncomfortable to use my fingers.
Hurt wrist in April, had MRI, shows ganglion cyst, effusion and tear but Dr says nothing wrong, why? Painful and hurts to move fingers.
MRI explains it: "effusion and tear" of the structures in the wrist or hand, could cause the symptoms. Not sure why your doctor said "nothing wrong". Sometimes a surgeon will say "nothing I can do" and a patient hears "nothing wrong". Doctors who specialize in PM&R (or Physiatry), use non surgical ways of treating soft tissue injuries. Might be worth seeing one. Bringing previous records is always a good idea ...Read more

Either : Either the ganglion is pressing against a nerve, or mom was right, and the immobilizer you wore was, indeed, too tight. Why suffer? Go see a hand surgeon. Ganglion cysts can be aspirated (drained) and sometimes, a little cortisone injected after the aspiration could prevent it from recurring (as they sometimes do). If all else fails, the surgery to remove it is not terribly disabling or complicated. ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers
