When a ganglion cyst burst, is it possible to feel sick afterwards?

When a ganglion cyst burst, is it possible to feel sick afterwards?

Anything is possible: But unlikely. Ganglions are filled with mucin, which is similar to synovial fluid found in joints. When they "pop" the fluid goes into the surrounding soft tissue and subcutaneous space. Very little if any of the fluid is immediately absorbed into the blood stream. Instead, the fluid is resorbed slowly over time. Feeling sick at the time is likely coincidental, or a vagal response. ...Read more

I have a ganglion cyst. If it burst would it cause sharp pain?

Doubtful: In the old days, it was called the "bible" treatment to rupture a ganglion cyst on a person's wrist. As the bible was usually the biggest book in people's houses, it was told to people to swing it hard against the wrist to rupture the cyst. The blow i'm sure hurt more than the cyst rupturing. ...Read more

Is it possible for me to burst a ganglion cyst?

Is it possible for me to burst a ganglion cyst?

Not recommended: Ganglion cysts are noncancerous lumps that most commonly develop along the tendons or joints of your wrists or hands. These cysts do not need treatment unless they are painful and persistent. Many of them will resolve with rest. While there are accounts of patients bursting these cysts with a heavy object, there is also the possibility of aggravating the cyst. If necessary, see a hand surgeon. ...Read more

Yes: If it is in fact a ganglion cyst, which arises from a joint, most often the wrist, it may rupture or be drained, but they usually eventually return. 6yrs ago, i had a ganglion cyst from overuse (left wrist, near the thumb)- it burst. I still can't put pressure on my wrist when it is bent (painful).

Wrangling Wrist Pain: Anatomically, wrist pain due to a ganglion cyst is thought to be related to a distension of the lining of the joint or the surface of the bone itself due to fluid accumulation under pressure. Pain may recur after surgery due to inflammation in the joint, synovium, or the bone itself. The simple fact you had one means some force affected your anatomy to respond with a cyst. Change your activity. ...Read more

How to know if I have a ganglion cyst?

One common problem that can occur at the level of the wrists or coming from any joint is called a ganglion cyst. Ganglion cysts are not usually associated with much pain or discomfort until they become large. They extends from the joint space. It's, like blowing up a tiny balloon from between your knuckles. These often bust when a person bumps them. They will reoccur unless they are surgically tied off. I suggest you see an orthopedic surgeon to further assess and evaluate. ...Read more

Ganglion cyst what cause them to happen?

We don't know: If i had the answer to this, i would be a famous man. There are theories, but no right answer. It is thought that a defect in the joint capsule or ligamentous tissue results in tissue weakness, that allows joint fluid to escape into the weakness. As fluid escapes, it gets trapped by the one-way valve effect of the defect, thus producing the cyst. ...Read more
