Yes, but: There are meds which can help prevent gallstone formation or help dissolve some types of stones, it takes a while for these meds to work and effects are not permanent and most of patients don't like them due to side effects etc for that reason if you have gallstones and they are causing symptoms then best treatment is removal of gallbladder. No: Gallbladder pain frequently radiates to the (right) upper back, and even to the right shoulder, but not to the lower back. Also, people describe a pressure-like pain rather than cramps. Of course, anxiety may go along with any illness. ...Read more

Depends on severity: Pancreatitis related to ERCP can range from minimal symptoms to severe pancreatitis which can be life threatening. Depending on the severity of pancreatitis, this can resolve over a period of days to weeks/month. Also it is important to make sure that all stones were cleared from the bile duct. No alcohol ; low fat diet. You should see the gastroenterologist that did the ERCP for more guidance. ...Read more

Gall bladder disease: RUQ pain after meals, radiating to back. Normal US abdomen, only suggest there are no gallstones, but does not R/O GB dyskinesia.
CK- Hida scan needs to be done.
Ofcourse there is always PUD, Dyspepsia, IBS, in contention in D/D

Hi, suffer from gallstones, been put on metronidazole 400mg for mouth infection, woke up today with severe back pain & feeling very nauseas and weak?

Not clear: Flagyl can make you very weak and sick if you take it with alcohol, but you should not get severe back pain from this. There are reports of pancreatitis and cholecystitis from flagyl, but these are very rare (and Flagyl is often used to treat acute cholecystitis). I would get in to see the physician who prescribed these to you as soon as possible, or go to the er if you can't get in today. ...Read more
