Water?: Could be due to generalize water retention after the operation. This will go away as you go through the recovery period. May last 1-3 weeks. This depends of course when you had your surgery. If you're concerned something is wrong, call your surgeon. Hope this helps! ...Read more

Probably no: some people have trouble tolerating some fatty foods while gallbladder is inflamed or symptomatic. Once It is out you can enjoy all the foods that you could not before, so it is kind of related - but not gallbladders fault. Try to think about your diet and portion control. ...Read more

Fairly rare: The vast majority of those undergoing cholecystectomy (removal of the gallbladder) do not experience any of the things you mention. Occasionally people have trouble digesting very fatty meals but that is not good for you anyway and can be managed by a moderately low fat diet. Need more info: the dilated common bile duct is more concerning and could possibly cause your symptoms. I would more information to be able to discuss further testing. Are your liver function tests abnormal? How big was the common duct? Depending on the above you may need an endoscopic ultrasound of the duct and the head of the pancreas. ...Read more

Very possible: Gallbladder symptoms include pain, nausea and loose bowels after fatty foods. Many folks naturally eat less and stick to low fat foods to avoid the pain. Since most symptoms resolve after surgery, while discomfort and activity restrictions are still in effect, some weight gain early on is possible.
