Taking gabapentin 300mg three times a day for meralgia paresthetica. Started six days ago. No relief. How long before this stuff kicks in?

Are we there yet?: You're pretty close to when you should be feeling something with that particular dose. I tend to titrate people rather slowly (1 pill escalate weekly) so it depends how your doctor told you to ramp this medication up but if you've been going 3x/day right from the get go then, maybe a few more days to a week at best. If you're no better then, either the dose is too low or medication inadequate. ...Read more

Among its side effects are dizziness and drowsiness (meaning one should be careful if considering driving or operating machinery). A few people may have changes in their moods or thoughts. I have trigeminal neuralgia I'm on 3300 mg daily gabapentin and 400 mg of Dilantin I'm still having some shocks can they raise the Dilantin?

Agree with Dr Davis: If the Dilantin blood level is too low, increasing the dose may help, but if gets too high, you will become toxic. Please be aware, that the maximal effective dose of Gabapentin is 2400 mg daily, and beyond that, no further benefits. Might discuss all of this with your doctor. Good luck. ...Read more

How long does the withdrawals last from gabapentin 600 mg a day?

Usually quick: Gabapentin is one of the least likely drugs to have withdrawal symptoms, and if you do have withdrawal, it is usually over very quickly. This downward titration would help with withdrawal. ...Read more

I have a sore tongue that I am pretty sure is from acid reflux. Am on 40mg protonix (pantoprazole) and 300mg gabapentin and low acid diet. How long will this last.

Sore tongue: Your "sore tongue" is not related to your acid reflux, if in fact you have this condition. Are you self medicating with OTC protonix (pantoprazole) and Ranitidine? It is unnecessary to take both. Why are you on Gabapentin? I don't see anything under conditions that supports that prescription unless you have been diagnosed with "neuralgia" or seizures. Tongue pain is worrisome for cancer if h/o to and alcohol. ...Read more
