Any interactions?:ashwagandha, magnesium l threonate,taurate,glycinate, fish oil, cdp choline,acetyl l carnitine,alpha lipoic acid, vitamin d,prilosec
Why Supplements?: Since you're 17 years old, I am concerned that you are spending time and money wasting it on the supplements that you listed. While some of the substances are present in a healthy diet, there is actually no reason you should be taking them in the form of a supplement. You should be getting all the vitamin D you need in a healthy diet, and the other things, except Prilosec, are unproven. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Many foods & herbs have mild MAO inhibiting actions, such as carrots, chocolate, coffee, ginger, grape & onions, but these effects are not clinically significant & they don't need to be avoided if on a med that interacts with MAO inhibitors: http://www.botanical-online.com/english/vegetalmaois.htm ...Read more

Is it safe to take glucosamine, chondroitin, msm, vitamin d, calcium citrate, multivitamin, l arginine, l lysine, l ornthinine, Prilosec together?
Should be fine: I don't see any significant problems taking all of these supplements. If you have any side effects, however, it may be a challenge to know which is the culprit. Typically, side effects from these are minimal or not existent. If you are taking the prilosec due to the others causing GI complaints, you may want to reconsider this strategy. ...Read more
Yes: The effects of Modafinil on glutamatergic and gabaergic transmission in the rat medial preoptic area (mpa) and posterior hypothalamus (ph), are analysed. Could asupplement with aminoacids, vitamins(l-carnitine, l-tartaric acid, potassium chloride, l-leucine, isoleucine, valine, nicotinic)cause damage on brain?
Including essential Amino acids supplement (BCAA) would affect gout?
Is Whey Protein supplements & glutamine supplement safe for gout users?
None will effect gou: Gout is related to URIC ACID and PURINES, not amino acids or protein supplements. BUT, since everything you mention is a complete waste of money, why bother to ask? There are meds used to control gout in different ways. Low dose aspirin and thiazide diuretics tend to raise uric acid levels. Alcohol, especially in large amounts, often causes attacks. Low purine diets are slightly effective. ...Read more

Is it safe to take an Amino Acid supplement containing leucine, glutamine, isoleucine, and valine with 40mg of Prozac (fluoxetine) daily?
Drug interactions with niacin atenolol vit c magnesium iron Zoloft (sertraline) melatonin and armour ?
Epocrates check: A quick check on my trusty med database program reveals 3 main negative interactions with those meds listed. Two of them are with armour. The armour interacts with both the iron and magnesium making the thyroid med less absorbed, so separate these vitamins from your armour by at least 4 hrs. The other major interaction is atenolol and niacin. Less cholesterol lowering effect and overlowering of bp. ...Read more

Dopamite: Like most 'supplements' the buyer should be aware: that they do not work. The quality of any supplement can never be assured first of all. Second, look for magical ingredients from strange plants in exotic places: those places are great to visit on vacation, but using chopped up and dried extracts of some plant from far away is another thing altogether. None of these supplements are ever tested in. ...Read more

Why are you doing: This. It is unlikely to do anything to increase your height and may have side effects you wish you did not have. They should not: For the most part, dietary fibers don't really bind to much except good at holding onto water (thus softening stool) and so does not prevent absorption of nutrients. So don't worry, take your fibers. Most of us in the good us of a don't consume enough fibers. If you can, do it for better health. If you have concerns, consult doc. Good luck. ...Read more
GABA: Gaba is an inhibitory neurotransmitter made in the brain, where it has anticonvulsant, sedative, and anti-anxiety effects. Although there's insufficient reliable info about either safety or effectiveness of gaba supplements, people still use them to relieve anxiety, elevate mood, relieve premenstrual syndrome, treat adhd, promote lean muscle growth, burn fat, and stabilize bp. ...Read more
Not a good idea: GABA is the body's calming neurotransmitter. Taking GABA supplements helps promote stress relief and lowers anxiety so it can be sedating. Kava is also sedating. It is likely that if you take both you would be overly sedated. Talk to a naturopathic physician or Chinese medical doctor before combining these products. ...Read more

What is the best amino acid or any other substance to help a GABA supplement cross the BBB? Thank you!
GABA supplements: are reported by some companies to cross the BBB. However GABA does exert peripheral effects including calming anxiety and reducing blood pressure and may have other indirect effects that are beneficial. ...Read more

Can i take bupropion XL 150 mg a day with a GABA supplement? Any interactions i need to worry about?
Yes. Probably : However, you do not indicate what gaba supplement you are taking. Each medication or supplement has its own pathway of being broken down and eliminated from the body. When two medications are taken simultaneously they can interact together to lower the blood level of the other or increase the blood level. Supplements currently do not have to be rigorously tested so it ishard to find good info. ...Read more

I currently take 0.5 mg of ativan, (lorazepam) only as needed, for panic attacks. I am thinking of trying a daily GABA supplement instead. Thoughts? Thank you.
2nd thoughts: I would like to know your prescribing dr opinion. I m glad you asked. It is advisable to never add a supplement to a medication prescribed, mostly if you will change a calculated (by your dr) balance, targeting the same neurotransmitters the drug will act upon...You may really distort the expected effects. Can a person taking 8mg Suboxone for opiate withdrawals also take St. Johns Wort, Passion Flower and/or GABA supplements to help with anxiety?
Talk to provider: I'd resist these products until getting a clear 'go-ahead' from the provider who prescribed the Suboxone. It can be dangerous when taken w/ any other CNS depressant (GABA) and St. John's Wort can lessen its' effectiveness - so discuss it and probably don't. The Suboxone alone may reduce your anxiety and CBT therapy is a safe, good option to learn good life skills. Best wishes! ...Read more

GABA supplement?: I don't know what "gaba supplement" is. And no one likely does -- that is it isn't regulated so it can be anything. I would not suggest putting things in your mouth that you don't know the composition of. If you look at my background you'll see i've published on the gaba receptor. Alcohol and anti-anxiety drugs effect it amonst other substances. Recseeing a physician to deal the problem list. ...Read more
