Does Excitotoxicity cause symptoms like tinnitus and visual static? Are the treatments anti-epileptics and NMDA receptor agonists?
Good question: The full range of symptoms with exitotoxicity is unknown. Your symptoms, (Diarrhea, Palpitations, Vomiting) can also be caused by a broad range of disorders (hyperthryroidism, VIPoma, Porphyrrhea, pheochromocytoma, IBS, abdominal epilepsy). Hopefully you can get to the bottom of things. Not sure what you mean by visual static though. ...Read more

Why is it that baclofen interacts with Clonazepam?Took baclofen and felt more anxious. Currently tapering off of 0.5mg clonazepam. GABA interaction?
CNS depression: and increased seizure activity, if epileptic, may be the consequence of the combination.I'm not sure why you take the clonazepam, but it is wise to avoid the combination if possible, till done with the baclofen. Clonazepam is a controlled drug, and better confer with your provider regarding dose change. GABA effects: this is how the clonazepam acts, and adding baclofen might increase such activity ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Can taking niacin and experiencing a niacin flush help cease ototoxic medication induced tinnitus by improving circulation to my middle ear?
Maybe: In theory, Niacin helps increase blood flow. Taking a supplement has also helped some folks subjectively. So, some who take Niacin may notice improvement in their tinnitus, but it is likely not from the added circulation. Ototoxic damage is not reversed by increased blood circulation. ...Read more
Can l-tyrosine restore dopamine from stimulant usage (medical usage) or does it build your tolerance? Stims r 4 narcolepsy and helps some motivation.
May help: There is little research on this, but l-tyrosine and l-phenyalanine are the precursors (building blocks) of Dopamine & norepinephrine. Theoretically taking these should help us to produce more of these neurotransmitters. This is reasonable to try. What are the direct dangers to the brain and effect of impairing glutamate, endorphine and GABA functioning with alcohol?
See Below: Chronic abuse of alcohol causes dysregulation of the neurotransmitters, the receptors that these neurotransmitters act on also change. Alcohol is a depressant so the brain tries to balance itself out if chronically exposed, when alcohol is removed, brain cannot adjust back quickly, and is hyperexcited with excess glutamate, decreased gaba and endorphins, thus withdrawal and cravings begin. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
