I have 4 unit old dental bridge made of porcelain fused to high noble metal. Approximately. How many grams and the type of gold they use in it. ?
Varies: No way for me to tell. The high noble is usually 54% gold with other metals such as palladium. The weight can only be determined by removing the porcelain. It varies depending on the laboratory design . If you request a mailer from garfield refining, andmail it in. They will extract the precious metals and send you money. There is no middle man this way.My patients have used them for years. ...Read moreSee 8 more doctor answers
Which could very well be the longer lasting dental cap for back teeth--cerec, porcelin fused to high noble metal or a gold crown?
Two issues here: There are two factors to consider when answering this question: 1-Strength of crown: a gold crown cannot break; any one with a ceramic surface can break although very small percentage. 2- Any tooth with a crown can decay around margins if poor oral hygiene or high sugar or acid intake. Each type of crown has advantages and disadvantages. Speak to your own dentist as to which is best for you. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Which bridge material type best for molar back teeth. Porcelain or porcelain fused over high noble metal and why. Which is more expensive.?
Crown Materials: Hi, when talking about materials for molar teeth there are a few things to keep in mind. Strength and clearance (the space between the prepared tooth and the opposing one). If there is not enough clearance because the tooth preparation is getting short, pfm (metal on the chewing side) or full gold will be better. Otherwise, you could get a zirconia reinforced porcelain crown. They are very strong. ...Read moreSee 8 more doctor answers

Dear Dentists: The porcelain cover near #12 in 4 units bridge broke. It was made from PFM w/ high noble.Any other rigid materials you recomm to use.
Repair or replace: Sometimes the porcelain fracture can be repaired with a composite material that can be bonded to the existing bridge if the area does not take a lot of chewing stress. Another alternative might be a telescope crown to replace only the segment fracture and save the expense of an entire new bridge. An alternative to a new bridge might be to just replace the missing tooth (teeth) with implant(s) ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Which is better for 4 units bridge on teeth # 11 to # 14: a high noble metal in a "yellow gold" color or "silvery gold". ?
Either: Both are ada approved and considered acceptable. However, the high noble will generally last longer. I am assuming that since #11 is involved you will be having it covered in porcelain so from an appearance point of view, either would be fine and close to equal in quality and longevity. The semi-precious or "silvery-gold" should save you money though with the high price of gold. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
