Fungus Foot Swollen Groin
Can an old lingering case of condyloma cause palpable or swollen inguinal nodes? Also could bad toe nail fungus cause this?
Nail fungus: Would not cause it, depending on the etiology of the condylomata it is possible. For example condylomata could be secondary to syphillis and syphillis can cause swollen lymph nodes. (i just used syphillis as an example). ...Read more

I had a very serious case of athlete's. I was wondering because I heard it can spread to the groin area. What is it called if the fungus moves to the groin area from the feet. Also what over-the-counter treatment can help fix the fungus
Jock itch: Athlete's foot is aka known as tinea pedis, a common fungal condition in the skin of the feet. If the fungus spreads to the groin, this is jock itch (tinea cruris). Otc products include creams, ointments, powder, sprays (lamisil, nizoral, tinactin, (tolnaftate) mycocide...) if the condition is severe and doesn't resolve, you may need to go to prescription strength meds, including oral agents (lamisil or onmel). ...Read more
Right foot 48 F (9 C) hotter than left (IR thermo). Toes swollen, red itching and burning spots on top. Not blue. Frostbite or fungus?
Varies: Multiple potential causes. Frostbite would really be a consideration only if you had sustained severe cold to that extremity. Temperature differences can be caused by an abnormality causing a cool foot, or by causing a warm foot. Cool feet are often related to vascular issues. Warm feet may be vascular, infectious, or inflammatory such as gout. A good exam would give idea about likely cause. ...Read more
My husband has very swollen feet with burning, peeling skin he has a history of eczema and they hurt to move. It doesn't itch. Is this a foot fungus?
Not necessarily: If his feet are very swollen this can cause cracks in the skin and cause the skin to blister or peel. This could be due to eczema or just from the swelling. They can be painful due to the skin being broken to move them. Best to have them checked out, he may need a steroid cream, compression, or it could be a fungal infection, but the only way to know would be to have them looked at. ...Read more
I have athletes foot and fungus nail infection on 2 toes. If I went swimming would I contaminate the water & spread the fungus to my hair, groin ect?
My toe nail fungus has progressed to very swollen feet and ankles with (dead skin?) or some solid white stuff popping out everywhere. Need help! Jim
Tophaceous Gout: Tinea unguium (fungal nail infection) is very unlikely to be involved in the swelling. I would work you up for high uric acid levels and send some of the 'white stuff' in for dark field microscopy (putting the sample in absolute alcohol and not formalin). Assuming this is gout, you need to be placed on a xanthine oxidase inhibitor to deal with the uric acid levels which cause gout. ...Read more
I have been having pain on my right side back radiating to the front and down to the groin. Today I am having pain along with swollen feet. What do?
Swollen lymph nodes: Any type of foot infection that creates inflammation can cause the inguinal lymph nodes (those in the groin) to swell. The lymph nodes filter lymph fluid as it flows through them, trapping bacteria, viruses, and other foreign substances, which are then destroyed by special white blood cells called lymphocytes. See your doctor to treat the foot infection. Warm compresses can help the swelling. ...Read more

I have a sore on the bottom of my foot. How can I tell if it is infected? There is no puss but I think my lymph node in my groin is swollen.
Swollen lymph node on one side of groin *3 mths after last sex. Could this be from a STI or most likely something else? No visible leg/feet cuts/sores
STI unlikely: The large majority of inflamed lymph nodes in the groin are not from STIs. Assuming no recent genital blisters or sores, etc, the chance of an STI is even lower. It isn't zero, and it would be prudent to have an STI checkuip, especially a syphilis blood test, if you may be at risk, like a new or potentially unsafe sex partner. And if it persists, see a doctor to look into other causes. Good luck! ...Read more

Small ball-like lump in back of thigh under buttocks and swollen back of thigh muscle with pain down to the knee and in groin?
I have a swollen inguinal lymph node on my right side only. I have no other symptoms or illnesses besides a foot strain. Is the swelling normal?
Inguinal node: Inguinal nodes are actually the least specific nodes we have since they drain so many areas...entire leg, pelvic area. So usually they are related to an infection you may not even be aware of...if it stays enlarged for more than 2 weeks you should have it looked at and a pelvic exam as well. Look your foot and leg over for any scrapes or scratches. ...Read more
Is it common for a fungus infection (ringwarm) to cause your groin lymph nodes to swell? Went to the doctor he prescribed me a steroid (predisone)
Fungous infection: If the fungous infection has been on your feet for a long time, it can spread to the lymph nodes in your groin. You probably would need an oral ringworm medication if it is a ringworm. For other infections in the groin, like a bacterial infection, an antibiotic would be indicated. A dermatologist might be the one to consult with. ...Read more
