What is the best possible way for a college student to juggle school, work, extracurricular act., volunteering, and social/family life all in one?

Take it from Clint: One of Clint Eastwood's great lines is from the 1970's movie Magnum Force. At the end of the movie, just after his character Dirty Harry has taken out the last bad guy, he says, "A man's got to know his limitations." This applies to women as well. Are computer games harmful to a child's development, or do they help train him for a future in computers?

Some are: Many computer games involve killing and maiming and seem to me to teach that violence is O.K. Others, like e.g. Snow boarding, teach dexterity and computer savvy. How much should we urge activity director to involve elderly parent in events at the home?

How much should we urge activity director to involve elderly parent in events at the home?

It Depends: I can see how one could have mixed feelings about this. On the one hand, we all want our parents taken cared of and payed attention to. On the other hand, we don't want to wind up in an adversarial relationship with those who we want/need on our side. Also, it matters what else could be done and the time needed. There are different degrees of urging and sometimes unsolicited advice doesn't work. ...Read more

My 2yr old is in a small family daycare we love,. His language &social skills are advanced. Does he need preschool or can we wait until pre-k?

Need? No...: It sounds like your son is in a loving environment. Children his age (and older) learn through play and connection. He doesn't "need" preschool. Read to him, talk to him, explain things to him, and most of all have fun! I bet he is already getting those things at the family daycare. My vote - if you are happy where he is there is no need to change. ...Read more

Would it be more beneficial to continue mainstreaming my 8 year old child diagnosed w hfa w adhd, gdd/asperger vs placing her in a special ED school?

Ask school: The best think for your child is for you to team up with his teachers and school to get their opinion as to how he is doing. The school district is required by law to evaluate him to see if he needs special help if he has a confirmed medical diagnosis that may get in the way of his education.
