Fullness And Draining After Ear Tubes And Infection
Finished 5D zpack for ear infection Feel ringing in ear, fluid and a little pain and loss of hearing. Could the infection still be there?
Possible: As it can still be a viral infection, very difficult to tell from the outset, also you may have chronic serous otitis media, meaning persistent fluid in your middle ear mainly due to Eustachian tube dysfunction, more common in kids though, also chronic inflammation of nasal cavity/ throat for whatever reason like allergies can cause this. Kindly revisit your doctor or ENT specialist, good luck ...Read more

I have t-tubes in both ears due to eustachian tube dysfunctioni noticed fluid was draining from myleft ear today. And the fluid would dry and crust. Is this normal for t-tubes? Also ear hurt a little
Normal: This is exactly what the tubes are supposed to do - if you have blocked eustachian tube and some fluid in the ear, then it should drain out of the ear through the tube. Dab up what drains out, and if it gets really pussy looking, bad smelling or lots of pain, may need some antibiotic ear drops in addition. Many docs will just call these in to pharmacy for people with tubes that are draining. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Hi, I have an ear infection and my ear drum ruptured.I've been on amoxicillin and antibiotic ear drops for 3 days. How long till ear stops draining?
Hard to predict: The initial drainage was likely triggered by the pressure caused by buildup of mucous and pus behind the ear drum. This was released as drainage started. As the antibiotic begins to kill off the germ, the reason for drainage declines and eventually stops. Persistence of drainage after a week would be unusual and prompt a call to your doc. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Had throat infection and ear infection took antibiotics for 10 days. My glands in throat are very swollen and sore still?
Other cause: It could be your throat symptoms were caused by a bacteria that was not sensitive to the antibiotic you took, that the infection was realy caused by a virus, and that your throat irritation is not infectious at all and due to something like allergies. If your glands were really swollen and really sore throat, at your age i would consider mono and i would ask your doc about that possibility. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Age matters : I'm a pediatrician, but hope i can still give you helpful advice. In babies and children, we treat ear infex based on the degree of illness and/or discomfort with the infex. Fluid can be present behind the eardrum with an acute ear infection. If it does not resolve and/or it's adversely affecting one's hearing, we are quicker to act on that. See an ENT (ear/nose/throat) specialist. ...Read more
