Fta Abs Or Mha Tp Positive
Asked question about wife false positive yesterday, her confirmatory test done by CIA rather than TPPA or FTA-Abs...is that ok?
I has a 1:2 tier RPR and fta-abs "non reactive" i feel that the doctor did not explain this well. Can someone give more clarity?
RPR ; FTA tests: Rpr is rapid plasma reagin test for screening syphilis disease. The disease produces antibodies, which this test measures. It can be positive in other diseases like drugs, lupus, malaria etc. It can be absent in early ; late disease. The results are given in titers. The test is periodically repeated to monitor the treatment. The titer goes down. Fta-abs is confirming test for disease when rpr+. ...Read more
If my blood test is reactive for syphilis both on the RPR and fta-abs lab tests should I get another blood test to confirm?
No: That is how the diagnosis is made. You should get treated. ...Read more
What can you tell me about the treponemal tests (e.g. fta-abs test for antinclear antibodies, rheumatoid factor, and hypergammaglobulineia and le cell test)?
Plenty: And more than even the best of us can put into 400 characters. Please get with a reliable online source. FTA-ABS tests for the treponemes of syphilis but is not an antinuclear antibody; none of the others are tests for treponemes / syphilis. If you tested positive for any of these beyond FTA-ABS, the interpretation is subtle and best handled by your rheumatologist or general doctor ...Read more
How accurate would a RPR test be for late latent syphilis (approx. 24-30 months after unprotected sex)? Or would a FTA-ABS/VDRL be more accurate?
After a 8 year exposure and a 12 month exposure I just got tested for std rpr and hiv duo @ 1 3 6 12 mos and fta abs at 12 mos is it conclusive?
No syphilis or HIV: For sure you don't have HIV or syphilis, no worries. You have been seriously over tested. The HIV duo test is conclusive any time 4 weeks or more after exposure, and the RPR syphilis at any time 6 weeks or more. YOu didn't need an FTA-ABS test, and all HIV tests beyond for weeks were wasted money. You also should have urine or vaginal swab tests for chlamydia and gonorrhea. ...Read more
I was tested for mg, achr blocking abs 21 (0-25)(most info found said anything over 15) achr binding abs .03 (.0-.24) could this be a positive?
Myasthenia gravis: The test is negative based on the normal reference values for that laboratory used. I wonder if modulating ab, anti-musk and anti skeletal muscles antibodies should be checked. If you have an objective measurable weakness an edrophonium test, or repetitive nerve stimulation can be performed and may be useful in the diagnosis. A single fiber EMG is another diagnostic tool available. ...Read more
False Positive? HIV 1/O/2ABS-index value 1:14, HIV 1/0/2 ABS, QUAL Repeatly reactive. HIV 1 AB &HIV 2 AB NONREACTIVE.. confused.
If I have a high positive ANA (1:640) speckled, nucleolar and low positive SMA (1:40), what further tests do I need to do? (Negative SS-A, SS-B, Smith, RNP, SCL-70, Anti Jo Abs)
? anti dsDNA: You've probably already had these more basic tests: complete blood count, sedimentation rate, C-reactive protein, urinalysis & rheumatoid factor. It appears to me that the ANA results with slight positive anti-Smith may suggest lupus; you need an antibody to double-stranded DNA (anti dsDNA) which is very specific & somewhat sensitive for lupus. All this needs to be correlated by your doc/specialist ...Read more

Cardio: "good abs" are not as simple as doing a lot of sit-ups. The best way to get fat off your midsection is lots of cardio, combined with a good diet. Abs look ripped because of a lack of overlying fat. You may never reach a point where they are extremely well defined, but trying will get you healthier, which is far more important. ...Read more
