Please somebody help. I'm 30 yo, i've been diagnosed with low t (3.86 ng/ml), low normal LH & FSH (0.97 & 3.15 miu). Is there a permanent cure?

No cure, but help: Not knowing what your diagnosis is, i can't say for sure. Men your age with low testosterone may have any of a number of medical reasons for that. In medicine, we speak of "cure" meaning that the illness is permanently gone with no further treatment. Most illnesses cannot be cured, but well treated. Go to your physician and get a thorough evaluation, which will then lead to treatment. ...Read more

Fsh (Definition)

Fsh is a peptide hormone synthesized in the anterior (forward) pituitary gland in both males and females. The name 'follicle stimulating hormone' refers to its role in females, namely to recruit and prepare an oocyte (egg) in the first half of the menstrual cycle leading up to ovulation. Fsh is often measured in blood to test a woman's ovarian ...Read more

What are FSH scores used for?

FSH levels: Fsh score is not commonly used term in reproductive medicine. If you are asking about fsh levels, this a a blood test drawn around day 3 of your cycle. It measures your ovarian reserve or ovarian aging and we like it be generally less than 10. ...Read more

Can you be treated for a high fsh?

Yes: High fsh indicates low ovarian reserve, a low number of eggs. Very high fsh indicates menopause and requires oocyte donation to conceive. Modest elevations in fsh indicate that egg numbers are low. Many women with low egg numbers can successfully conceive. While fsh is a reasonable measure of egg numbers, it is not a good measure of egg quality. If eggs are available, treatment might work. ...Read more

What are normal LH and FSH levels?

It depends: Totally on where they are drawn relative to your menstrual cycle, age, and also the functional capacity of your ovaries in terms of estrogen secretion and egg production. Lh normal is 1-20 with a surge before ovulation. Fsh is lowest 3-5 days after last menses. ...Read more

My wife's FSH is 4.2 LH 6.5 is it normal?

Yes: Both fsh and lh values are normal. They do vary based on the time in the cycle when obtained. It helps us to know the context for the values but in this case the values are normal most of the time in the cycle except at ovulation when the lh would be high. Hope this helps. ...Read more

My fsh levels is 9.8 and LH is 6.3. Is this bad?

Not bad: They are within normal range, a bit non-specific though. To interpret FSH we need to know the day of your cycle it was checked: CD3 is the optimal day, in this case your level is a little higher than expected for a 24 year old. If checked at any other time, probably not important. Good wishes. ...Read more

Again! what does it mean to have low test, fsh, and lh?

How low?: It depends upon how low and if the lab was drawn in the morning (8-10 am) to be valid. If your testosterone and free testosterone are low in the morning, and your lh/fsh are also low, it means your brain or pituitary is not sensing the low testosterone and signaling your testicles to produce more hormone. If so, an x-ray exam would be needed. Hope you aren't using narcotics or androgens. ...Read more

What does having a FSH count of 137 mean at 52 years old?

What does having a FSH count of 137 mean at 52 years old?

Menopause: In menopause the fsh is elevated in response to the lack of estrogen. One can think of the pituitary as "trying to get the ovaries to make estrogen" by putting out a large amount of fsh, but the ovaries no longer are able to produce estrogen or ovulate. ...Read more

What causes higher levels of FSH in males (61 years old)?

Decreased sperm: Production will lead to a feedback mechanism which is attempting to produce more sperm. At your age, it's unlikely that you're considering fathering more children, but see your doctor if you are. If your lh is also elevated, you need to have your testosterone checked as well. ...Read more

What does abnormally low FSH mean? (example: 1.55 on day 3)

What does abnormally low FSH mean? (example: 1.55 on day 3)

It Depends!: The most important question here is why did you have the test? A low 3 day FSH on one occasion really does not show much. FSH varies during the cycle & goes up towards ovulations (mid cycle), then comes back down. It is lowest at about the time of menses. A high number could indicate decreased ovarian reserve (perimenopause) & undetectable with irreg menses some less common things OR PREG or BCP! ...Read more

If my FSH test is 7.17 and LH test 5.29 what does this mean?

Why was it done?: Your fsh and lh vary considerably during the normal menstrual cycle. Midcycle, around ovulation, lh and fsh are usually high, maybe around 100, but these values are typical of what you would expect at other times during the cycle. After the menopause, the values of fsh and lh are much higher. It would be important to know why your doctor performed these tests. ...Read more

My wife has levels of under 0 for LH and FSH what does this mean?

Not possible: There is no such thing as less than zero. This does not make any sense. If you have made a typo, then please re-ask. If you are saying there are undetectable levels of either, then she needs imaging of her head, such as an MRI to evaluate the pituitary gland. ...Read more

My LH levels are in 13.9 and the FSH is in 2.8. What does it means?

My LH levels are in 13.9 and the FSH is in 2.8. What does it means?

PCOS or PreOvulation: Cynthia, the ratio is usually close to 1:1, but if the LH is higher, it is one indication of PCOS. Both hormones are responsible for producing an egg ready for ovulation. If that ratiuo is >2:1 (LH:FSH) in the first week after your cycle, that may be due to PCOS. If the blood was drawn mid-cycle, it may be a normal finding since LH RISES above FSH just before you ovulate. PCOS has treatments. ...Read more
