Pregnancy (Definition)

When your due date arrives, you will be more than ready to have your baby! Most women deliver the baby somewhere between 37 and 42 weeks. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, only 5% of babies arrive on the exact due date. Approximately 7% of babies are not delivered by 42 weeks, and when that happens, it is referred to ...Read more

My prolactin level's 749, fsh-5.7, lh-5.4, estradiol-34, trying to conceive but no results.3misscariages and 1extrauterine pregnancy. What's the problem?

My prolactin level's 749, fsh-5.7, lh-5.4, estradiol-34, trying to conceive but no results.3misscariages and 1extrauterine pregnancy. What's the problem?

Double check: Are you saying your prolactin level is 749 or is this a decimal-point error? Also is that in units of micrograms/liter? If both these things are true your prolactin level is around 50 times higher than normal. If both these things are correct you need to see an endocrinologist or a reproductive endocrinologist immediately! If this is an error, then sorry for the alarm. ...Read more

IVF: In vitro fertilization may be the answer in this case. Sperm with low motility don't survive and don't make it to the fallopian tube to get to the egg. This can be remedied with ivf where sperms don't have to travel. Check with a fertility center. ...Read more

My wife's fsh is 2.59 and lh is 1.20, are these normal values for a pregnancy?

My wife's fsh is 2.59 and lh is 1.20, are these normal values for a pregnancy?

Low gonadotropins: The numbers seem to be on the low side. However, if your wife is already pregnant, it does not matter; if she wants to get pregnant and has regular cycles, it does not matter, either. If her cycles are irregular, she will be best off by seeing gynecologist/reproductive endocrinologist. I see low gonadotropins in women, who are depressed. ...Read more

Amh 0.16, FSH 14.1. What are my chances of pregnancy? Would IUI with injectables even be an option. I'm 35 years old

Amh 0.16, FSH 14.1. What are my chances of pregnancy? Would IUI with injectables even be an option. I'm 35 years old

Shots + IUI vs. IVF: No test of ovarian reserve is perfect - there is no fsh level so high or amh level so low that noone gets pregnant. Ultrasound scan for ovarian volumes and antral follicle count and a Clomid (clomiphene) challenge test day 10 fsh give us more info. If you respond to injectables you have a chance of getting pregnant - I would see a rei for the above tests, then talk about IUI vs. Ivf. Ok to try IUI for 3 months. ...Read more

What causes FSH to decrease in PCOS? Insulin/total, free testos. Normal. Don't want pregnancy yet, suggest tests/treatment.

PCOS: The underlying cause of PCOS is unknown although genetics and weight are important factors. FSH stays low and LH is usually high leading to an imbalanced production of Estrogen, Progesterone and Testosterone. If overweight weight loss is crucial. Typically menstrual cycles are controlled with birth control until you are ready to try and get pregnant. ...Read more

Can I take a FSH and LH blood test after my period? My flow this month was light and period was delayed. Will this blood test also detect pregnancy?

Can I take a FSH and LH blood test after my period? My flow this month was light and period was delayed. Will this blood test also detect pregnancy?

Yes and No: Yes, you can take the fsh & lh blood tests after your period even if it was light (as long as you believe it was a period). Usually test on days 2-4 of cycle. No, the timing and the fsh/lh hormones will not detect pregnancy. If the period was not a real menses and you are actually pregnant with bleeding then a HCG test would detect pregnancy. I hope this answer helps. ...Read more

Am having stomach pain lately so I got a test done it says raised FSH &LH values' pregnancy blood test weakly positive what is this weakly positve?

Weak pregnancy test: May be miscarrying or in early pregnancy., Repeat in a week, it should go up, if going down, likely miscarrying. If vaginal bleeding, worsening pain, fever seek medical attention immediately as may be ectopic pregnancy which can be very dangerous. Raised LH/ FSH may be false positive or early preg or reflect low progesterone/ impending miscarriage. Follow up with doctor/urgent care. this week ...Read more

Age: Your age is the limiting factor in achieving your pregnancy. The ovarian reserve is significantly reduced and your odds of successfully becoming pregnant is low. Recommend seeing a fertility specialist to optimize fertility.

Fsh (Definition)

Fsh is a peptide hormone synthesized in the anterior (forward) pituitary gland in both males and females. The name 'follicle stimulating hormone' refers to its role in females, namely to recruit and prepare an oocyte (egg) in the first half of the menstrual cycle leading up to ovulation.
