Are there some fruits that have a high enough fiber content, so that the fruit sugar carbs don't get quickly digested (trying to avoid a sugar high)?

Are there some fruits that have a high enough fiber content, so that the fruit sugar carbs don't get quickly digested (trying to avoid a sugar high)?

Glycemic index: Berries, cherries, apples and pears are all "low glycemic index" forms of fruit. They are also nutrient dense and must still be balanced out with heart healthy protein foods such as nuts. Combining a starch with a higher protein food can slow the uptake of simple sugars and reduce the glycemic load. If you are a diabetic be very careful with portion size. Even low glycemic foods can inc glucose.

Diabetic, to balance blood sugars, do I eat a low fiber diet or a high fiber diet?

Diabetic, to balance blood sugars, do I eat a low fiber diet or a high fiber diet?

High fiber: Low glycemic food (rich in fiber) is recommended for all and particularly for those living with diabetes. Fiber delays glucose absorption and minimizes rapid glucose excursion which can mismatch Insulin rise (via injection/bolus). You also should know that fiber is not accounted for when you calculate your carb intake before administering insulin.

I see an emphasis on low carb eating, even from bariatric docs here. Are fruit, yogurt, high fiber cereal not recommended for weight loss?

Determine Yourself: Most marketing, advice&products, is only marketing to sell stuff, Not Reality. I disagree with other answers. To figure out what works for you, weigh daily, to 0.01 lbs accuracy, after up & commode, & record. Mentally do a detailed review of specific foods & quantities you ate previous day & Start Seeing What Works vs. What Does Not. LCHF really helps. Study my answers, DietDoctor. Com & NuSI. Org.

I eat a high fiber diet (a lot of all bran, whole wheat and veg/fruit). Is it potentially harmful to eat too much and should I be worried?

I eat a high fiber diet (a lot of all bran, whole wheat and veg/fruit). Is it potentially harmful to eat too much and should I be worried?

High Fiber Diet: Will most likely not encounter any problems. Make sure your bowel movements are regularl & normal. Try to eat a varied diet so your body is exposed to all sorts of vitamins, minerals, proteins & other important nutrients. A high fiber diet may lead to colonic hypertrophy which is associated with sigmoid volvulus. This is rare & usually not seen with with the type of fibers mentioned in question.

Will a meal with added fiber lessen the effects of after meal rise in blood sugar, even if that meal contained high GI foods like pasta or rice?

Will a meal with added fiber lessen the effects of after meal rise in blood sugar, even if that meal contained high GI foods like pasta or rice?

Not likely: What you described is not likely to be an effective strategy to control rise in blood sugar following meals. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. Practice safe sex, if you have sex.

If I want stable blood sugar and to not have extra hormones in the body, will drinking soda when I have an overall high fiber diet ruin insulin balanc?

If I want stable blood sugar and to not have extra hormones in the body, will drinking soda when I have an overall high fiber diet ruin insulin balanc?

Yes it will: Yes, soda is very bad for health, bad for other systems not just Insulin balance and blood sugar. It has high calories (300), contain corn syrup in it has high fructose, excess of it is not good for health, even diet soda has to many chemicals, best drink is water which is free (if you don't by bottled water) and great for health.

Is fruit sugar also bad? I have started working out and trying to be rather disciplined at my sugar intake. Is fructose bad too, high calroried?

Is fruit sugar also bad? I have started working out and trying to be rather disciplined at my sugar intake. Is fructose bad too, high calroried?

Here's a secret...: I am very glad you are working out. There's a lot of nonsense about "needing to avoid sugar" and I'm glad you saw through it. People overeat stuff with refined sugar. People do not overeat fruit. That's nothing magic about simple sugar molecules (beyond the way sucrose is especially rough on the teeth). Stay fit and you'll soon see results that will make you proud.

Assuming my added sugar in a day is about 37 gms, how much fruits can I safely eat so that my total sugar intake is not high? Not diabetic, 30 Male.

UuuMM: Well nutrition should not just address your sugar intake. There are other things to look at as well for a balanced and healthy nutrition. Health. Gov/dietaryguidelines/ is a link you can go to that will assist you. No back to your question, sugar of 100gms and less should be okay. But add proteins, vegetables

See Dr.: A 70 pound weight loss is troublesome, especially if you are not trying to lose weight? Sugar craving and weight loss, may indicate diabetes as one example, but either way, you need an exam and testing by a dr. A soon as possible. Best wishes.
