Weight and Activity: Yes that diet can certainly be sustained if it provides for the caloric expenditure of the individual on a daily basis. The mix of foods you choose is also very good. By "processed" i assume you mean complex carbohydrates. If you happen to be 350lbs and 6ft 4in then you are going to be rather hungry for quite some time. ...Read more

Not necessarily: There is no single diet that is best for everyone. I believe it is wise to minimize sugars and simple starches, but i believe a diet with whole grains, vegetables, fruit and low-fat proteins is healthier than a strict low carb diet (which is relatively high in fat and protein). See http://drrandybaker.Com/2013/01/20/diet-and-health/ for my essay on the pros and cons of various diets. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Is oatmeal/fruit-breakfast, chickenbreast sandwich/veggies on whole wheat-lunch, and salmon/chicken and veggies sweet potatoe-dinner a good plan?
Reasonable but...: Sounds good overall but advise more protein at breakfast- add walnuts/pecans to oatmeal or have organic eggs sometimes. Advise organic chicken- if not, it's fed gmo feed which may prove hazardous-see http://www.Psrast.Org/ advise wild salmon as farmed has more toxins. Have veggies of all colors & include salads. My daily breakfast is two slices of whole wheat bread with crunchy peanut butter and fresh blueberries. Is it a good breakfast to eat daily?
Don't have the rest: of your history to know for sure if it's good. As long as you're not allergic to blueberries, wheat, or peanuts (common allergies that can manifest subclinically). Also as long as it's not GMO wheat, peanuts. Usually the first meal of the day should be the largest (since you can burn it off during the day) and hold you well past lunch.I would increase the protein component.Sounds more like lunch. ...Read more

Almost anything: Almost any fruit and/or vegetable combination can be made into a smoothie along with nuts, seeds, yoghurt or milk for protein. Is gluten free pasta ( maize starch, soy flour, potato starch and rice starch)with about 40 gm carbohydrates good for cholesterol ?
Does not matter: Since 90% of the cholesterol is produced by the body regardless of your diet, the above would not noticeably affect your cholesterol level. Do note that too much carb may not be good for your health. I don't believe extreme diet does anyone any good. Just eat anything in moderation and exercise at least 3 hrs a week will likely keep you in better shape. ...Read more

Are you exercising too? Without physical activity (cardio), it is hard to lose weight. You have to burn more calories than you are consuming. You might be doing this already and have another reason for weight gain. ...Read more
