Baby poop: What you are describing all sounds very normal. The poop is a reflection of the bacteria in the baby's gut as well as your diet (as you are sometimes breast feeding). Babies often cry when trying to have bowel movements - it's a new thing for them and they have to learn how to relax a sphincter and at the same time are bearing down to push the stool out - they get frustrated/cry - it gets better ...Read more
4wk old /c bright green mucuousy pooh, about a tbsp. Breastfeed, normally have mustard yellow stool. No temp , baby feeding well. Concern?
Nothing special: The greenish color in stool is the breakdown product of the bile when it has not been in the gut long enough to go through a change to yellowish or brown. It is normal as is the loose or mucousy consistency. The germs in the gut will also impact the final product. I'd just monitor the issue and discuss your concerns with the doc at the next regular visit. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Normal variation: The color of poo is derived from the waste pigment that end up in the bile, which is added to the intestines from the liver. It starts out an intense green & over time may change thru yellow to brown. The germs of the intestine convert the pigment as it transits the digestive tract. The less germ action the less color change.Loose stools are often a greenish color for this reason. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

It starts out a dark green and goes thru the yellows to brown depending on the influences of various factors in the intestines. Rapid transit thru the system, as may occur with diarrhea or breast feeding may have a greenish yellow or yellow appearance. The slower, more likely browner. ...Read more
