After an operation of stone in gall bladder, he is having severe stomach pain and indigestion problem in3weeks. What can be done to help recover?

Go back to surgeon: It is not uncommon to have some mild indigestion and fatty-food intolerance+/-diarrhea for a few weeks after gallbladder surgery. ABDOMINAL CHEST PAIN: Gastro-esophageal reflux disease caused by the reflux of gastric acid from your stomach into the esophagus, could be the problem. Pain located more in the middle of your belly, might be due to an stomach ulcer or inflammation of your gall bladder or bowels. Seek medical attention to help sort this out. Constant heartburn, nausea, indigestion, stomach pain, bloating, and loss of appetite. Family doctor takes forever to get appt. Any ideas?

GERD: Likely to be gastroesophageal reflux. Try starting OTC ompeprazole or similar. May add Zantac (ranitidine) or Pepcid on top of that. Try using Maalox or Mylanta to see if you get any relief, even for just a minute or so. It can be helpful to your doctor to know if it helps or not, once you see the doc. Avoid spicy foods, acidic foods, caffeinated beverages. Sleep with head of bed elevated. ...Read more

I've been taking dexilant for 4 months 60mg. Can I just stop. I don't have heartburn but I have episodes of stomach pain. thank you?

Dexilant: Dexilant, a ppi, can be stopped but I would taper off it or switch to zantac or pepcid which also block acid secretion in the stomach with a different mechanism of action. The question remains as to what is causing your abdominal distress even while taking dexilant. Perhaps you should consult a gastroenterologist for diagnosis and treatment. ...Read more

My stool was small in caliber but hard to let go. i have heartburn, stomach pain, and very discomfort of my stomach..pls help me..tnx..

Consistent change?: If your stool is consistently small in caliber, go see your Family Doc or Gastroenterologist for colonoscopy.
