Hiv infection is caused by a retrovirus....This retrovirus binds to CD4 cells (for the most part). You may detect the virus by several different methods. An elisa test (enzyme linked immunosorbent assay). You may also detect it by doing a test referred to as a western blot (a gel protein electrophoresis). Thirdly by pcr (polymerase chain reaction) which ...Read more
French kissed an HIV positive person. I had recent dental work & was unsure about whether he had bleeding gums or open sores. Is my risk high for hiv?
Saliva and HIV: Saliva does carry the Aids Virus; however, his saliva would need to come into contact with inflamed gingival tissue that may bleed for example. If you need to pursue this behavior with him - there is a product called dental dam that would keep fluids from passing between the two of you! ...Read more

Listen Jay...: You're a grown man now. You can't get HIV from kissing, though you can get infectious mononucleosis, cytomegalovirus, herpes simplex, and/or gonorrhea. Kissing is worth the risk. You can't go through life rinsing your mouth with run every time something really nice happens. Congratulations on having been kissed, and may you find true love when the time is right. Best wishes. ...Read more

I'm worried from HIV dear doctor I'm worried from hiv, I had protect sex with a sex worker in dubai, I did french kiss and she sucked my penis with condom on then the condom just flip over a little bit and she fit it back. Then I did 7 minute of sex with
The: The likelihood of you contracting HIV is extremely extremely low. As I tell my patients....The name of the game is type of fluid that's exposed and the viral load of the virus in the fluid. An open wound in your mouth would increase your risk. An open wound or lesion in her vagina would also increase the risk. It sounds as if this is not your case. The only real exposure is the french kissing. There is HIV virus in the saliva of persons whom are not completely suppressed. There has been no documented case of transmission from saliva (this is contingent on no open lesions remember). I would rest easy...Its likely your ruminating over the encounter. Please be aware the sex trade is fraught with HIV carriers. There are other std's such as hep c which is equally serious...And possibly moreso because there is treatment but serious side effects accompany it. As of 2012 there is no vaccination. There may never be a vaccination. The HIV virus is the most complicated structure the medical and scientific community has encountered in regards to a cure. The best bit of advice is not to contract it in the first place. Please be safe. ...Read more
No risk: Possible? Maybe, at least theoretically. But if so, it is extremely unlikely. Of the milliions of people infected worldwide in the 30+ years of hte known HIV/AIDS epidemic, none are known to have been acquired by kissing. Among other things, saliva kills HIV -- which is one reason why oral sex also carries little or no risk of HIV. ...Read more
Yes: The aids virus, hiv, has been detected in saliva and at least theoretically could be transmitted by exchange of saliva during kissing. This is a low probability route of infection as compared to unprotected sex, but it is at least theoretically possible. I'm not aware of any case reports of such transmission. ...Read more

You are okay: I am glad you tested negative. I am going to assume that you were tested with one of the new tests that almost always turns by three weeks. HIV is hard to get: Nope. Absolutely not.Get a more detailed answer ›
Zero; very low: You won't get it from kissing. The risk from oral sex with the receiving partner being a woman has historically been considered zero. The risk if the recipient is a man is also very low -- studies vary, with some having no transmission in a large cohort with many acts & partners -- you're still wise to have him slip a condom on. ...Read more

Is it possible to catch aids or HIV from french kissing? Is it unpredictable, sort or russian roulette?
No: Hiv is not found in high enough concentrations in saliva to cause infection, so kissing cannot transmit the virus, even if you both have chapped lips. If one person has active bleeding on the lips, then that is possible, but why would you kiss someone who's lip was bleeding? Truth is, there have been no known cases of HIV being transmitted from kissing. ...Read more

How high is it for me to get hiv, french kissed with my roof of mymouth scraped from food I ate. Kissed once barely tongue. How many get infeced?
Rare to get infected: It would be very, very unlikely to get infected unless the roof of your mouth was bleeding and he had wounds on the tongue. But the big question is and advice is why become sexually involved with an HIV person, and you need to ask anyone who gets physical about sexually transmitted diseases of all types and take precaution. ...Read more
