What is the definition or description of: free t3 (liothyronine)?

What is the definition or description of: free t3 (liothyronine)?

Thyroid hormone: Thyroid hormone exists in 2 states T4 and T3 (liothyronine) (they differ in how many iodine molecules are bound to the thyroid hormone chemical structure, with T4 having 4 and T3 (liothyronine) having 3 iodine molecules) ordinarily the thyroid hormones float in the blood either chemically attached to a protein (protein- bound) or not (free) so free T3 (liothyronine) is the amount of T3 (liothyronine) hormone in the blood not stuck to protein). ...Read more

My free T3 (liothyronine) is low but all other tests normal. What does this mean?

Probably nothing: Are you taking thyroid replacement? A normal TSH usually means all is ok. See a thyroidologist. ...Read more

How can I know if my imune system is what causing me a low levels of free T3 (liothyronine)? And if it has any thing to do with me having misscarriages?

Complicated: Check thyroid antibodies to see if you have hashimoto's as a cause of low free t3 (liothyronine). There are other causes, including stress. If you have an autoimmune issue (like hashimoto's) it can effect your fertility so it is important to have this all checked out. There are other tests that should be run to get a sense of what might be contributing to the miscarriages- like hormones, clotting factors. Etc. ...Read more

What will the treatment be for a free T3 (liothyronine) of 1.76?

What will the treatment be for a free T3 (liothyronine) of 1.76?

Maybe none: The units and normal ranges for free t-3 vary widely. In addition, the free t-3 is never used by itself to diagnose a thyroid disorder. It is only even minimally helpful when it is in combination with more useful and conventional thyroid tests like the free-4 and tsh. Free t-3 measures free t-3 in the blood, but what's really important is the t-3 level in the cells, which the test can't measure. ...Read more

If my free T3 (liothyronine) and T4 is in the normal range, but my ths is 11.7 what does that mean?

If my free T3 (liothyronine) and T4 is in the normal range, but my ths is 11.7 what does that mean?

Likely hypothyroid: Ie: your T4 level is low for you, compared to other folks

see endocrinologist- if repeat TSH is same, need thyroid hormone therapy, T4 will rise, modestly, TSH will fall into normal range. ...Read more

There is no: Good or bad. Only appropriate amount of brand name T4 replacement to keep your thyroid levels normal -- and your levels are normal. Rechecking free t3, (liothyronine) tgab are worthless. The rest of the numbers are normal. ...Read more

Which test results are more important: T3 (liothyronine) total or free t3 (liothyronine)? If total t-3 is low and free t-3 is low, almost out of range w/symptoms, treatment?

Which test results are more important: T3 (liothyronine) total or free t3 (liothyronine)? If total t-3 is low and free t-3 is low, almost out of range w/symptoms, treatment?

Free results,,,: The most important result by far is the freet4 as this indicates how much available active thyroid hormone is circulating. Free t3 (liothyronine) is also important as T4 is converted into t3 (liothyronine) and is more active. Tsh is also important as this and free T4 help indicate whether or not a person is hypothyroid. But free results are more important as this indicates the amount of active hormone. Good luck. ...Read more

Do low T3 (liothyronine) and free T3 (liothyronine) values mean hypothyroidism?

Do low T3 (liothyronine) and free T3 (liothyronine) values mean hypothyroidism?

Possibly.: These along with low t4, free t4, and high TSH would mean hypothyroidism. But a low TSH would possibly mean a hypothalamus/pituitary problem. If any of the thyroid values/tsh are not low, then it might be wise to keep following before having a diagnosis made and therapy done. Check with your doctor to be sure. ...Read more

Can the total T3 (liothyronine) T4 be normal and the free T3 (liothyronine) T4 be abnormal?

Yes: The total t3 (liothyronine) and T4 levels are the "active forms" of t3 (liothyronine) and t4. These hormones are protein-bound. So, for example, if you have high protein levels, your total t3 (liothyronine) and T4 levels may come out normal when your free t3 (liothyronine) and T4 (looking at just the unbound levels) are actually low. To account for abnormal protein levels, we usually check the free levels for accuracy. ...Read more

Dear sir, what is difference between free T4 and free T3 (liothyronine) and their functions?

T4 and T3 (liothyronine): The pituitary in your brain controls T4 and T3 (liothyronine).
T4 is more abundant but T3 (liothyronine) is more effective.
T4 converts quickly to T3 (liothyronine)
Treatment with T4 tablets works well because it is ultimately converted to T3 (liothyronine).

Please go online to an imaging program - I use Yahoo but others are available. Look for "Thyroid images"! ...Read more

Low T3 (liothyronine) over a year & free T3 (liothyronine) borderline low though in range, have all symptoms of hypothyroidism. Is it unheard of to treat w/meds to see if it helps?

Low T3 (liothyronine) over a year & free T3 (liothyronine) borderline low though in range, have all symptoms of hypothyroidism. Is it unheard of to treat w/meds to see if it helps?

Many docs would Rx: The "normal range" is where 95% of folks lie, but I believe at least 20% of people are clinically hypothyroid & about 3/4 of those have "normal tests." I find most patients who are hypothyroid remain symptomatic until their Free T3 (liothyronine) is in the upper half of the range. If you have the symptoms of hypothyroidism & borderline low labs try Rx. See http://tinyurl. Com/koyamo5 & http://tinyurl. Com/pxz8mkd ...Read more

If T3 (liothyronine) is converted from T4 inside the cell, how can they measure the free T3 (liothyronine) in the blood test?

Similar to free T4: Both T4 and t3 (liothyronine) circulate in bound and free forms after formation in the thyroid (t4) and peripheral (t3 (liothyronine)) cells. The free t3 (liothyronine) can be measured but the results are much lower and less meaningful than free t4. ...Read more

If...: T4, T3 (liothyronine) LOW normal, may have pituitary problem.
