Partner had accident 2yrs ago, fractured t9 ribs and "small" lung puncture. No surgery. Ongoing minor cough all seasons ever since. Any correlation?

I m 41yrs, suffering from dry cough with extreme pain on left side ribs or don't know where. Taking pain killer sos &cough syrup.

See PCP or Dr. soon: If your dry could and painful ribs aren't resolved with cough syrup, it's time to see your pcp to find out what is going on. Your sore ribs are probably from coughing so much, but you need to see whether it's an upper respiratory infection, or something more severe needing a chest xray. Your pcp can examine you more closely to determine the cause, and help with the pain. ...Read more

What can cause extreme pain at the bottom of my rib cage only when I cough or sneeze?

What can cause extreme pain at the bottom of my rib cage only when I cough or sneeze?

A sure Dx may need: Imaging of some type or at least a direct exam might be needed to know for sure, but if there is no pain otherwise, it could be an internal bruise or soft tissue injury from excessive coughing or sneezing. People can pull muscles through those when they are violent. A binding (not too tight) might minimize the pain. Ask your provider to check it out and offer advice based on findings. Good luck. ...Read more
