Fracture My Wrist But Cant Get A Cast
2yrs ago, fell broke rt bone in baby finger&hurt wrist. Merge casted said cast will help wrist too, then .5cast. Still now i get pain in my wrist, Why?
A fracture is a broken bone. As there is cartilage at the end of many bones at the joint, a fracture may also include a break in the cartilage. Fractures and broken bones are the same thing. It seems that many believe that a "fracture" is a lesser injury or an incomplete break in the bone, but this is not correct. Fractures may be displaced or ...Read more
Broken my scaphoid in ny wrist im now in a cast but really want to knowif its possible for me to have a splint instead.. Would it heal still?
Depends on location: If the scaphoid is broken in the middle of the bone or closer to the forearm, healing is more difficult. These areas of the scaphoid do not have a very good blood supply. Your cast probably includes the thumb and may extend above the elbow, as well. See your physician for further discussion. http://orthoinfo.aaos.org/topic.cfm?topic=A00012 ...Read more

I have a buckle fracture in my left wrist. Is it necessary to get a cast or could i just leave a splint on it?
Splint may be fine: A splint may be fine, depending upon time from injury and x-ray status. If you are already more than a couple weeks out from injury, a splint is likely fine, as long as it adequately protects your injured bone from further harm during the full 6 weeks of healing usually required for such a fracture. ...Read more
I have a wrist fracture near the thumb. The fracture is small but i put my wrist in cast. I am 18 years. Will this work? Or i need a surgery?
Depends: A picture of your x-ray is really necessary for any orthopaedic surgeon or upper extremity surgeon to have any idea what to advise on this manner. The scaphoid is a wrist bone on the thumb side that is notorious for being a difficult bone to heal, while a chip fracture off other bones on the thumb side can be significant only in that they indicate ligament injury (sprain). ...Read more

I've had pain in my wrist for three months, wrist clicks when I twist my wrist and it feels tired. Could it be a fracture or RSI? I have an office job
Probably not: If there was no injury to the hand and it is not painful then it is probably not fractured. Swelling in the hand after an elbow injury especially in a cast is common. The swelling must be controlled with ice, elevation and most importantly keeping the fingers moving. If it becomes severe it can lead to permanent stiffness of the fingers. A good therapist can help controll the swelling. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Would you advice to play soccer on Saturday? What can I wear to protect my wrist further?
Ask your orthopedist: In a young healthy person, at 6 weeks, a fracture is usually healed. However, I do not know the details or severity of your injury. It is easily possible to fall playing soccer and reinjure it, which would be horrible. You need to follow the advice of the person who knows the details of your injury - your orthopedic doctor. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Unmake it worse-: -means it got it better. but I kno what U mean. Lisfrank fractures R quite unstable, and is Cn in football, or other sports when the foot is hyper flexed, & often needs surgery depending on Ur activity level. it should B followed by an ortho surg, not an ER Doc or PCP. if it is acute, get in 2 have it rechecked even if it did not cause an increase in pain. they need close watching & a tight cast. ...Read more
