Avoid amputation: If you have adequate soft tissue over the bone and tendon, there would be no reason to amputate. A tip without graft will usually gradually fill in, but graft can get quicker coverage. Nail bruising: After trauma to nail, it one can get a pooling of blood under the nail (subungual hematoma) which gives the nail a purple/maroon discoloration. If injury is recent and there is pain, please see dermatologist right away. It may be necessary to drain the blood from under nail. Whether nail will be lost depends on how much trauma and how much blood presses on junction between nail plate and bed. ...Read more

Yes: Where was the cut? Median nerve is deep. Superficial cut would not involve unless cut was on finger itself (wherein nerve would be a digital branch of median nerve, not the median nerve itself). In any event, need evaluation since nerves are important. Check carefully if both sides of the finger are involved on only one side. Report to your doctor. Non-healing wound: How long have you had it? Since it is draining, was it Ever cultured .and you probably had antibiotics ? Do you have high blood pressure? Did you injure it? The best thing for you to do is to see your PCP . I think You need blood tests , cultures of the wound , possibly MRI to rule out osteomyelitis. Grafting: The circulation to the scaphoid is precarious going distal to proximal, so proximal scaphoid fracture at risk for non union due to limited circulation. Care consists of either vascularized bone graft from distal dorsal radius, bone grafting with compression fixation, or attempt at bone stimulation with fixation. Varies: It varies quite a bit, depending in part on the severity of the injury to the TFCC. Some people may have a very mild injury and do fine without even immobilization, while others can have injuries severe enough they need surgery.
