Ice, rest, pain meds: The injury during "ballet class' may have caused a sprain or strain in the muscles or tendons in your foot. Acutely, after the injury I would ice the area for 15 -20 minutes several time a day in first 24- 48 hours.I suggest taking either acetaminophen or ibuprofen for the pain. Delayed healing.: All your symptoms are subjective in nature. I think knowing objective symptoms such as swelling, angular deformity or discoloring might contribute to understand just what the problem is. Fifth metatarsal fractures are not the easiest to heal even under perfect circumstances. You should see a dr: When you say black..what color are you? Is it black like black and blue? Is there a capillary return in the toe?
