Other causes: A four month old does not have bowel control where he is afraid to poop. You dont mention it, but if you are breast feeding an infant can go as long as a week without pooping and is within the realm of normality. Not necessary early: During the 50's & 60's when moms made their own cow milk based formula, it was important to feed solids to make up for the deficiencies of cow milk.Today the breast or commercial formula fed babies need no solids the first year. We have a need to teach them the different skills needed to feed solids & most are ready @ 6m when they start sitting with assistance. This is a good time to start. ...Read more

9 month old baby boy wont drink milk. My pedia says baby is healthy. How do I make him drink? Formula fed.
Feeding problems: You can not make him drink.Formula. At this age he should be drinking less milk and eating more solid foods. You can offer him formula not whole milk, in a sippy cup with his solid food meals. If your pediatrician says he is growing well then not to worry. He should be taking 6 meals including solids per day. Do not make eating a struggle! ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Br.Milk: looser poop: Breastmilk-fed babies usually have looser, more watery, poops when compared to formula-fed babies. Breastmilk has ingredients that encourage the intestines to move the poop along, so the poop leaves the baby sooner (a faster transit time means the poop doesn't stay in the baby long, so the poop doesn't get drier nor firmer). Formula-fed babies have firmer poops and more easily get constipated. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
2 mo old baby passes lots smelly farts. Poop mustard yellow, smelly. Sometimes in pain. Formula and breast fed. Tried ovol, gripe, massage. Concern?
Baby poop: What you are describing all sounds very normal. The poop is a reflection of the bacteria in the baby's gut as well as your diet (as you are sometimes breast feeding). Babies often cry when trying to have bowel movements - it's a new thing for them and they have to learn how to relax a sphincter and at the same time are bearing down to push the stool out - they get frustrated/cry - it gets better ...Read more

Intolerance: Watery stools are sometimes a sign of difficulty processing the feed. Discuss with the kids doc at a regular checkup. ...Read more
Normal variation: The main agent adding color to the poo is the material made by the liver called bile. It starts out a dark green and goes thru the yellows to brown depending on the influences of various factors in the intestines. Rapid transit thru the system, as may occur with diarrhea or breast feeding may have a greenish yellow or yellow appearance. The slower, more likely browner. ...Read more
Baby poop: can be many different colors naturally and this is not usually a sign of any problem. In breastfed babies anything that the mother consumes can affect the baby's poop. As long as your baby otherwise appears well, and is well hydrated, this is not usually a reason for concern. Signs of dehydration in a baby as illustrated, are reason for medical attention. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Almost 3 mnth old formula fed daughter has poop in almost every diaper, extremely uncharacteristically fussy, inconsolable, spitting up frequently...?
Tough situation!: Oh you poor thing- you must be so worried! And tired! The part that strikes me as most concerning is that this is unlike her. We'd agree that it's normal for babies to cry, babies at this age can be very colicky. I'm not worried about the diapers, maybe she's coming down with a virus. Check her temperature and if > 100.3 rectally, if bloody or dark green vomit, take her to the ER please. ...Read more
