Morgagni also described "hardening" of these arteries. Many others, of course, have also contributed to the development of these ideas. ...Read more

What are the causes of forgetting names and what are the cures? Is it medicine/drug related?

What are the causes of forgetting names and what are the cures? Is it medicine/drug related?

Can be: Medications & drugs can indeed affect memory. Alcohol, illicit drugs, sleep medications, anti-anxiety agents, anti-psychotics, pain medications, some antidepressants, anything that is very sedating can cause you to not register names or events -- thus forgetting them later. The "cure" is to stop using alcohol/drugs, and to see your physician to evaluate your memory concerns & make suggestions. ...Read more

Memory probs? Losing track of what I am doing. Losing items. Forget names of people on phone + forgeting what im saying. Not sad will flourextine help

Need assessment: Fluoxetine is an antidepressant used to treat depression and several anxiety disorders. If you are suffering from depression, you may also experience cognitive symptoms - memory and concentration problems. However, there are other diagnoses which could account for the symptoms you mention, and fluoxetine wouldn't be the drug of choice. A formal assessment is indicated to make the diagnosis first. ...Read more

Is their a pill or medication to reduce alchol craving i currently drink 1 pint every day it seems to be getting worse, years ago i took a mild tranqualizer for something else it worked on my craving , but i forget the name

Hello, : Hello, any of these sound familiar: disulfiram, naltrexone, and acamprosate. why do i get disoriented sometimes, like forget someone's name when I've known them for yrs

Don't jump to AD: I'm imagining that you fear early onset Alzheimer's. If so, do visit your doctor to ask for an exam and referral if needed. Even if it runs in your family, there is a good chance that this is NOT it, but it will either reassure you or give you a good head start w/ management choices. Fear can make these things happen more w/out any disease. Tx and counseling can provide a high quality life if +. ...Read more

Is schizophrenia a type of dementia? If not why does it cause severe memory loss, black outs during listening, forgetting basic things, names, ect?

Is schizophrenia a type of dementia? If not why does it cause severe memory loss, black outs during listening, forgetting basic things, names, ect?

Used to be thought s: Originally the disorder now called schizophrenia was called dementia praecox. Now we have a much more detailed division of mental disorders.
