It akes a long time to go down, May be a permanent lump but no harm. Head Injury: Have him seen. The forehead injury by itself does not sound concerning but now the appearance of bruising on the side of his head and behind his ear makes it more serious. Apply ice.: Immediately after the injury, apply an ice pack to the area, on and off for 10 minutes at a time for a few hours. There will probably still be swelling and bruising, which will go away after a couple of days, but the ice will help somewhat. If it doesn't, you should have your child seen by a doctor. No: There's still some iron in the scar underneath the skin. It will probably disappear after a few more years. I treat combat sports participants, and these old marks may be a source of pride.
