Depends what it is: Seeing your doc will help to sort this out. But, it sound like you could have lateral epicondylitis. Hurts with gripping, grabbing, pulling. Sharp and/or dull pain at the lateral elbow. That radiates up into the arm and down into the forearm. Sounds like you had-: Strained the flexors of your hand, hence causing pain with attempts to make a fist. You need to be seen by an orthopedist so an xray, ;/or an us can be done to confirm the DX and treatment started. In the meantime, rest the elbow with rice (rest, ice, compression and elevate)in a sling + pain meds lie with aleve (naproxen) or ibuprofen.
