Medium sized bruise from IV 2 weeks ago on forearm. Bruise is healing (slowly but surely) but the area around it is desensitized (not completely numb) is this desensitization normal?
Stretch versus injur: A few possibilities. Swelling from th IV and bruising may have stretched the nerves to the skin in that area and as the swelling resolves the nerves will gradually recover and sensation restored but may take several or more weeks after swelling resolved. Slight chance that the IV actually injured the nerve itself in which case it may take much longer for sensation to return. ...Read more

What does a blood clot look like on forearm. A bruise-like circle of about a 1/2 inch just showed up; yesterday it was brown and today it is red. ?
Varies: Blood clots can produce different presenting symptoms. If it is in the artery, it can cause dramatic pain and even turn the limb blue/black if it blocks important circulation to the rest of the arm. If in the vein, it will lead to swelling in the limb. If you have a bruise, it is likely a small bursted vessel. You may want to consider an insect bite too (spider?) and it may be infected. ...Read more

First see your Dr.: After any trauma that occurs, especially fall injuries down staircases requires that you see your doctor for evaluation, and to make sure you haven't injured bones, tendons, muscles strain, or ligaments. An x-ray will rule out fracture, but an MRI will show soft tissue injury. So your doctor will determine which one you need. Then, you'll need realignment to get everything back in order.Don't wait. ...Read more

Bp readings were taken from my lower forearm. As the cuff inflated, i noticed bruising on my upper forearm. I thought it'd go away but it didn't. Why?
Thin Skin: Fragile or thin skin that tears easily is a common problem in older adults. Aging, sun exposure and genetics all play a role in thinning skin. Certain medications, such as long–term use of oral or topical corticosteroids, also can weaken skin and the blood vessels in the skin. http://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-lifestyle/healthy-aging/expert-answers/thin-skin/faq-20057753 ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
