There are a variety: There are a variety of structures there. It could be tendon which may be my first consideration. But you have muscles, nerves, blood vessels, bone all there. Any of these can be the problem. You can try heat on the area but you may need to see your physician for a definitive diagnosis ...Read more

synovitis: All of the tendons in your arms are c covered by tenosynovium. It lubricates them, gives them nutrition. Rarely, the tenosynovium gets inflamed and causes arm pain and numbness. T the synovium in the carpal tunnel swells and compresses the median nerve =carpal tunnel syndrome. Rest and anti-inflammatory meds are the treatment. Often cortisone is needed. ...Read more

Physiotherapist wants to do dry needling to neck and forearm for chronic bilateral wrist pain (1 yr roughly)thoughts on opinions on this procedure ? He thinks there is compression of nerves.

Treatment options: Dry needling is very helpful for trigger points. I didn't actually know that dry needling could be used in the manner you described. There are many treatment options depending on the cause of wrist pain. Has the source of your wrist pain been diagnosed? I can't comment on the treatment plan that was offered to you. As a medical acupuncturist, I am not familiar with this approach to wrist pain. ...Read more

Swelling outside wrist, where forearm meets wrist, between knuckles & pain - been this way over 1 yr, how long before swelling causes permanent damage?

Really cannot say: Without an actual examination, I cannot give specific medical advice on your particular health, and the swelling doesn't often cause as much damage as the CAUSE of the swelling. Rest, warmth, anti-inflammatories help if nothing else going on. ...Read more

Your body doesn't: lie (from the neck down!) Listen to it. This symptom suggests some injury or nerve pain/dysfunction. Since it has persisted for a year, I would consult an Orthopedic Hand Specialist or Neurologist for diagnostic evaluation and possible treatment. Avoid any strain on your forearm and hand until you have pursued this. All the best:) ...Read more

Possibly: Golfers elbow is an inflammatory condition that affects the flexors of the wrist on the inside of the elbow. It could not explain all the pain complaints you have. You may have a pinched nerve in the neck which could potentially explain your symptoms. ...Read more
