Varies: There are multiple reasons a person might have progressive foot pain without having necessarily have had an injury. An inflammatory condition such as gout, a neurological condition such as a radiculopathy, or a progression in arterial insufficiency are among possible causes. Don't hesitate to be checked. ...Read more

I'm having foot pain for two weeks now idk what I did to it I woke up like this and the pain is getting worse?

Plantar fasciitis: If the pain is your heel in orange it is most likely Plantar fasciitis. This is a pain you feel when you first wake up in the morning and will get better after walking around. The way to treat this at first is to try and over-the-counter arch supports

I have pain in the top of my foot pain is worse after I sit and then stand up. I was wondering if being flat footed can cause this?

Possibly: Flat feet can cause a lot of foot and ankle pains. However, if you have swelling along the top of your foot, you may have a stress fracture, especially if the pain is gets worse the longer you are on your foot. A good arch support, rest and x-rays to rule out a stress fracture is advised. I hope this helps. ...Read more

Strained arch.: Plantar foot pain, generally, can arose from 3 areas. The ball, the arch or the heel. The arch has the largest surface area, and it's no surprise that it is also the area the patients complain about most. You symptoms are more than likely due to a strain on the soft tissue structures in the arch, namely the fascia. Since it is on both heels it is probably due to your shoes. Start with the shoes. ...Read more

Sharp foot pain on the outside of foot about 1 1/2 inches away from pinky toe. Do not remember any injury. Worse in the morning. Doesn't seem swollen?

Sounds like a tailor: bunion. It is caused by improper footwear. It is at the base of the little toe. Usually we see this in people with a"splay foot". This means when your foot hits the ground the forefoot widens. Have 2 look for this barefooted. If dress shoes & heelx make it more sore that is most likely the problem. ...Read more

Not sure what I did to my foot but I have bpttem of heel, and side of foot pain. Swollen and bruised. What should I do? Hurts worse with weight on it

Heel pain: If no history of injury, it might be inflammation of the fascia in the bottom of the foot. If there was injury associated with it need to rule out sprain or fracture of little bones in the foot ...Read more

The question is: A little unclear. But, if you have numbness I would look to have an Emg/NCV performed to see if there is any radiculopathy from the lower back. Regarding the cramps, I would make sure there is no circulatory disturbance and would start with arterial dopplers and consider a magnesium supplement. Keep in mind these are things to consider after a medical exam by a doctor, ...Read more

My mother has foot pain. The pain is in the heal and arch area. Pain is worse when she first gets out of bed and walking daily. What could it be?

Plantar fasciitis: Very common condition. Treat initially with improved footwear, heel cups that can be purchased over-the-counter, weight loss and calf stretching. The internet can be a source for your stretching. However, I recommend against trying to stretch the plantar fascia itself. If not improving within 3-4 weeks, then it's time to see an orthopedic doctor. ...Read more

I had over 10 cortizone (hydrocortisone) shots in each foot in a 3 month span. My foot pain is worse then ever. Could those shots have caused damage?

Probably not: It really depends on what the cause of your foot pain is, what have you been diagnosed with. Over time, cortisone can cause the bone to thin out (osteopenia), but it's unlikely that would cause your foot pain. 10 cortisone shots in each foot sounds like a lot, but without a diagnosis, its hard to suggest what the treatment should be. ...Read more

Foot pain, from toe spasm, cramp at night. What can I take OTC to help?

Aleve (naproxen) or ibuprofen: Most cramping is due to complex biochemical processes in muscles, but may boil down to simple overuse, in many different forms. 9 y-o f complains foot pain at night for months becoming severe and radiating to lower legs only at bedtime though. What's going on?

It would be easier: To figure out in person. That not the case, I would look to see if she is flatfooted and if so get her arch supports. Knowing the site where the pain begins is important. It is possible her bone has not fully solidified yet, some docs refer to this as growing pains, when the secondary growth center is still closing. She could be in pain and compensating when walking making other body parts hurt. ...Read more
