Varies: Some degree is swelling/ bruising tracking into the foot is common after tarsal tunnel release, I would make sure your surgeon is aware and that you have a follow up appointment to be checked. ...Read more

Should my foot hurt after almost a week since being stepped on by somebody else?

Should my foot hurt after almost a week since being stepped on by somebody else?

Stepped: Usually not. But, if it was hard enough, you may have an injury needing attention by a podiatrist or your pcp. It may be just a contusion (blunt injury) with residual pain. If it continues the same for another week and you can't walk on it, get some help. Try ice and rest. You might want to try some Aleve (naproxen) or Motrin also to decrease the soreness due to the injury. ...Read more

Ankle sprain : Most likely, your fall resulted in a sprain, and fracture is much less likely but always possible. Sprains are a soft tissue injury that always seem to take longer to heal than they should. Healing requires rest, ice would have been helpful at first but too late for that now, compression and elevation. An ace bandage can help you remember to stay off your foot. See a doctor if it does not improve ...Read more

Was on cast nov 17, until dec 17 for a oblique fracture on tibia. Started running a month ago and my ankle still hurts as of this day. No therapy was required.. After running for 15 minutes it hurts.

See your surgeon: Again best option is to see your treating orthopedist... Your fracture undoubtedly healed but during casting and 'boot' or cam walker use your ankle was immobilized . You may be having pain because of ankle stiffness or because you began running too quickly or aggressively on bone that is not ready for it( disuse osteopenia can develop even in young adults after tibia fractures). See your ors. Gl! ...Read more

I fell 6 days ago landing on my forearm by my elbow. It bruised significantly. Now it is a burning pain w/ a lump by the bruise. Hand numb at times?

Ulnar nerve: There is a nerve right by the elbow-the ulnar nerve that can be injured. The bruise itself may be a hematoma that can cause pressure or irritation of the nerve. That should get better over time. Numbness going into the 4th and 5th fingers would be indicative of injury/irritation of the ulnar nerve. The natural history is that it should get better over a few weeks. If not, see your doctor. ...Read more

I've been doing a patio the last 2 weeks and on Thursday this pain come in my heel on the right foot and when I rest it for a short it hurts to walk ?

Plantar fasciitis?: Hello, your symptoms sound like they could be the result of a very tight heel cord. We call this plantar fasciitis. This responds to stretching the heel cord and other conservative measures, such as using a heel cup shoe insert, rolling a frozen golf ball with your heel 15 minutes at a time, and massage. See a doctor for further diagnosis and treatment, or a referral to a podiatrist if necessary. ...Read more

Nerve damage?: The type of pain that you're experiencing is quite consistent with nerve damage. You should absolutely go and check with your nearest podiatrist as soon as you can. I would avoid sports in the meantime. ...Read more

Had surgery on my left foot and was not weight bearing for a few weeks. Today I have right foot kind of sharp midfoot pain. Could this be stress fx?

Had surgery on my left foot and was not weight bearing for a few weeks. Today I have right foot kind of sharp midfoot pain. Could this be stress fx?

Overuse.: My first consideration would be overuse of the right foot. Sounds like some soft tissue elements have bee strained while bearing weight on right foot only. Call your surgeon and get his perspective on your condition. ...Read more

I got up after sitting on my foot for a while. I felt pins-&-needles, tightness, foot red.Massaged it, then went away. Was it a blood clot in my foot?

No: You sitting on your foot probably caused decreased nerve sensation to the foot due to nerve compression. By moving it you relieved the compression on the nerve and it felt better. A blood clot would have caused swelling pain and discoloration and other problems. ...Read more

Joint and bone pain a week after wasp stings I had 8 stings 4 of which were on my arm and still pain a week afterwards?

Ouch! I feel for you: See your Dr for help w/ this. You might be experiencing allergic reactions to the stings on top of their own impact. An exam may lead to medications that will fight the inflammatory response and other benefits too. Obviously, try to avoid that sort of exposure in the future. Best! ...Read more

Played basketball in awful shoes. Didn't feel pain during game. After had pain on ball of foot and bruise color on top of foot. Can I go for a run?

Bruising = injury: Bruising is the visible sign of underlying bleeding. In the foot, this could be bony bleeding from a fracture, or soft tissue bleeding from a ligament or muscle. An orthopaedic evaluation and likely X-rays is warranted to make the diagnosis and be sure you do not do any further damage. ...Read more

I went on a 4 day hike and my knee became painful to extend (inner side of my knee). After a week it healed completely. Should I see a doctor/physio?

I wouldn't bother: It sounds like you strained your knee and now it is back to normal. See the doctor if this is a recurrent problem, or you have pain, swelling, or other problems. ...Read more
