Foot Ankle Swollen
A couple times I noticed my L. foot/ankle swollen near end of day, R. not swollen. No pain, some tingle, gone next day. 25+ wks pregnant. Is this ok?
? Normal: Foot and ankle swelling is usually normal during pregnancy but if it is in one leg, it is necessary to make sure you don, t have DVT (deep vein thrombosis). The fact that it resolves the next day makes this more likely to be a venous problem. Avoid prolonged standing, keep feet elevated at rest. Massage may help as well but make sure your OB is informed of this ...Read more

My left foot/ankle gets swollen. I sprained it about 3yrs ago and it has not been back to normal. I have done ex-rays many times and it shows no clot.
Orthopaedics: Don't worry you'll be okay. You should see an Orthopaedic Surgeon who specializes in foot and ankle. You may or may not have torn some ligaments in your ankle, if you have trauma history and instability or pain there could even be an undetected fracture. A full history and exam is needed because if you have unilateral leg swelling DVT or other diagnoses need to be considered. Good luck. ...Read more

Try orthotics: Go to a good running shoe store in your area and try some powersteps or order them online. A frequent cause of dorsal foot pain is the collapse of the joint as time goes by. Blood clot?: Swelling of one lower leg, especially after an injury, can be a sign of a blood clot (deep vein thrombosis). Get Help STAT: You could have any number of problems, but my guess would be either a possibly severe infection or a blood clot. Sprained my ankle a week ago. Both the foot and ankle are swollen, pained, and bruised. I can't move my toes and there are spasms in my thigh. Normal?
Not norm but typical: Bruising implies ligament tearing and/or a fracture. Gravity often allows for bruising and swelling to track down to the foot. The swelling and pain may inhibit joint and tendon movement, thus inhibiting the toe movement. Thigh spams can result from overcompensation of these muscles. Rest, ice, compression and elevation. See a physician for a possible x-ray, more definitive diagnosis and treatment ...Read more

Lt ankle/foot always swollen slight-large amt, 2yrs. Bun/creatinine levels run high. High protein intake. No salt-restricted diet. Causes of swelling?
Renal & venous probs: An elevated BUN & creatinine for 2 yrs. Means that you have chronic renal disease. You are on the worst possible diet for this, which should be low protein and low sodium. The swelling may be due to this + chronic venous insufficiency, which is more likely--for anatomic reasons--to occur in left leg. An internist specializing in kidney disease (nephrologist) is whose care you should be under. ...Read more
