Running barefoot, now pain in arch of foot. Back to shoes?

Running barefoot, now pain in arch of foot. Back to shoes?

Yes: Running barefoot is a fairly new fad.Change in activity, should be done gradually. When going from a good supportive shoe to no shoes, different muscle groups are worked and bone and ligaments are stressed differently. This can lead to overuse and breakdown(injury). If you are going to try barefoot or minimalist shoes, start with kicking around in them for few days, then short walks to running.Dr l. ...Read more

Pain in ball of foot when standing. When I lift foot off ground pain goes. I have a pinched nerve in back. Foot or back problem? Mri foot ok.

Pain in ball of foot when standing. When I lift foot off ground pain goes. I have a pinched nerve in back. Foot or back problem? Mri foot ok.

Back problem: My first thought was a neuroma in the foot however your MRI was normal. The low back spinal nerves innervate the foot. Positional changes effect the pinched area of the nerve exiting the spine. I would get a CT scan of the lumbar back. Antiinflammatory meds can help quiet the nerve down. Call in or see a doctor to get back to health. ...Read more

Foot problem or piched nerve in back? Pain in foot when standing. When lift foot off ground pain goes away? Mri of foot normal. Pinched nerve in back

Foot problem or piched nerve in back? Pain in foot when standing. When lift foot off ground pain goes away? Mri of foot normal. Pinched nerve in back

Devil in details.: Not quite enough information to help a whole lot. The pain could be due a nerve problem in the foot. The increased pressure with standing might be affecting a nerve. The exact location and type of pain are essential to solving the problem. The back could also be involved. To remove all doubt, seek an evaluation by a neurologist, orthopedic surgeon or a podiatrist. Maybe even all three. ...Read more

Pain in small spot bottom of foot, toward heel- in morning and walking. Feels like it's pulling from heel up back of my leg too. Plantar fasciitis?

I have foot pain on the lateral side of my foot around the fourth and fifth metatarsals when i'm pushing off. Walking barefoot or on flip flops relieves it while wearing sneakers aggravates it. Could it be some kind of neuroma or stress fracture?

I have foot pain on the lateral side of my foot around the fourth and fifth metatarsals when i'm pushing off. Walking barefoot or on flip flops relieves it while wearing sneakers aggravates it. Could it be some kind of neuroma or stress fracture?

Possibly: Neuromas, stress fracture, and capsuliitis are the more common complaints in that area of the foot. A podiatrist would easily be able to determine which of these or another condition you had. It is possible that you have less pain unsupported because that is the position your foot has collaped into and the better supported position is uncomfortable because of the injury. Foot pain is not normal. ...Read more

Random shin pain in one leg when I switch from heels to flats?

Short leg: Depends on where the shin pain is, front, inside or outside leg. If only one leg and i assume on the inside of the leg, you may have a short leg. Your foot rolls in and that causes the muscle to work over time to stabilize you. Wearing heels raises the angle of your feet and puts the muscle in a different position so it doesn't have to work as hard. I would recommend seeing a podiatrist. ...Read more
