Do I have pancreatitis I have had this pain for 3 weeks that is on my right side that starts in the front and radiates to the back. It is not a constant pain but gets worse when I eat. Should I go to the hospital?
Hello.: Hello. I would like to start by telling you that I cannot diagose the source of your pain. The pancreas is a gland behind the stomach that secretes digestive enzymes into the GI tract pancreatitis is inflammation the pancreas. There can be acute pancreatitis or chronic pancreatitis. Symptoms of pancreatitis can include nausea, vomiting, weight loss and fatty looking bowel movements. There can be a yellow hue to the whites of the eyes or even to the skin as well as feeling clammy, fevers, chills, sweating and weakness. Pain from pancreatitis can start in the upper part of the abdomen and can also affect the back. The abdomen can be tender to the touch and can become extended. Pancreatic pain can feel worse after eating. My understanding is that the pain from pancreatitis can be very severe. If you have moderate to severe abdominal pain, I would recommend that this be medically evaluated. If you had acute pancreatitis for three weeks, you would probably be very ill, and most likely would have already sought care. I hope that this is helpful. ...Read more

My grandmother has chronic pancreatitis and is weak from not being able to eat due to another episode. Any supplemental drinks specifically for pancrea?

Depending on a grandma's age, the cause of the pancreatitis can be a concern. Possible causes include gallbladder disease, gallstones, and cancer. Cancer of the pancreas can be hard to detect. ...Read more
